We decided that we were going to walk up to the video store to return our stuff and then come home for lunch. It is just under 5 miles round trip. After dinner we walked over to the park and that is about 1 mile round trip.

Tomorrow we are going to the zoo, so that will be a big walking day as well.

How often and how far do you walk with your kids every day?

lol, I have 6 children and highly doubt one of them is going to twist their ankle. But if it did happen they could have a pig ride all the way home. :)

We walk about 4.5 miles 2 days a week with other moms and kids. Then about 3-4 days of the week we'll walk what amounts to about 1.5 miles round trip with a big break in the middle on errands (park, library, or visiting dad at work). My oldest is almost 4 so he walks most of the way, but we have a double stroller in case he wants to take a break on the longer routes (and for those times he's fallen and scraped a knee).

We go to the park in the evening - daily. But, me being so big and pregnant has put a damper on our usual activities. Usually we do hikes in the MetroParks...which I greatly miss! Tomorrow we're going to the zoo too, so that'll be alot of walking. Monday I was out shopping the WHOLE day - so that was a lot of walking (outlet strip mall).

I'd also like to add that I'm in the midwest. So, we don't have our town laid out in a walking friendly environment. Walking to the store or to dinner just isn't that easy when you have to walk on a major route with no sidewalks...and a stroller!

Every day is different.

Some days my three and one year olds are bouncing off the walls, and then we walk to do ALL our errands. (We take along a stroller or backpack, just in case, but they walk most of the way.)

And some days they're feeling a bit more lazy, or I am, or someone's a little under the weather, and then we stay closer to home, or find a different way.

Also, when we're staying with relatives out on the East Coast (which is fairly regularly and fairly often), we do MUCH more walking (miles and miles every day) than we do at home in the Midwest. Cities out there are just laid out better for building that kind of exercise into your life.

When my daughter was smaller, we would walk around our neighborhood after I got off of work. It's about a 20 block radius. We have a walking track next to our apartment, so we try to do 3 laps around it. We don't get to do it that much now, because it got hot a lot earlier this year.
