The real "clearance" come through the New Testament in Acts where Peter was at someone's house and he went into a trance and God told him to "rise, kill and eat". It had a double meaning, but was also about eating all the previously forbidden foods from the Jews. Jesus took care of all RULES and placed us again under grace. Now, it doesn't mean there are no consequences to over indulgence..., and your FAITH has to be in play here.

As noted, Peter was given a dream where a tablecloth was laid before him containing every describable, eatable animal, and was told to eat.
The meeting of the Apostles in Acts, to determine what laws of Moses applied to the new Christian congregation, concluded that as to eating, only the blood issue was to be observed. Not to say you have to drain everything (that would make for a dry panda burger), but to not eat it as a food.
So, I'll take my endangered species with a glass of milk please.
