If the children's parents are so sure there religion is so perfect that their children should be taught that religion from birth......why are they so afraid to teach anything positive about other religions.
A child is likely to choose a religion in their teens, but if all of a sudden they find out that their parents have been holding back knowledge, the child may not join any religion because the example set by their parents denigrates all religion.

I am not sure of what the question is. If you are saying why let children decide rather or not they are going to be religious than maybe I can answer. If that is the case I think it is because each person has to make the choice for themselves...so it says in the bible. If someone forces beliefs on you than you would be less likely to follow those same beliefs. I do think though that a child should be exposed to religion so that they will be equipt to make a clear and decisive decision when they get older. By not giving children any kind of exposure is just unfair because that makes it hard for a child to "suddenly" believe in something at a later age.
I take my kids to church sometimes and have taught them to pray...well the youngest isn't talking so much yet but she is in the room with us when we do it so she can get used to the idea. I will give my kids the information and when they get old enough they will be able to decide for themselves their own paths. Hopefully, it will be the right path.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking...but if you are asking if people let their children decide to be religious or not...I am going to.
I came from a very religious family, but at the age of 8 decided that I did not believe in god. They allowed me to make my own choices and to this day I am the only one who is atheist.
Now that being said I have a one yr old and her father is agnostic. HE is the one who doesn't want her to be religious...which I find odd since he believes in god just not organized religion where as I do not believe in god or church and so forth.
We are going to raise her non religious until she becomes an age where she asks about God, Jesus, Buddah.....whoever and I will allow her to choose her own path. To each his own right?
We all believe in something. It may not be a god, or religion, or whatever...but we all believe in something. I will allow her her own beliefs as I was allowed mine.
Hopefully this answered what you were asking.

I let my kids decide on what toothpaste they want to use (my husband likes cinnamon, I like vanilla) or which clothes they want to wear...sometimes. (My son is very much a manly child and has NO fashion sense!) I also let them pick which movie they want to watch (so long as it's not Peter Pan for the 20th time today). They are 2 & 4. Right now, religion is MY choice. They can figure that out when they are older.

I have no problem in letting a child decide when they become a teen...but how can a child decide if they are never taught?
I somewhat agree.

Children should be raised with religion. How else will they ever differentiate morals?
