I'm a fourteen year old girl and considered mature for my age. However, I still do pass gas. It just comes down and I get a stomach ache if I hold the gas inside. I feel so gross every time I do it, and like I am a dishonest person for acting so mature and then coming home and being alone letting them rip. Seriously, I'm really trying to be a mature person, please help! I don't pass stinky or loud gas in front of people, but sometimes silent and unstinki ones slip out on accident. What can I do about this problem? And do mature people pass gas?

Seriously?

Medically speaking holding it in it terrible! It can cause damage. Flatulence is one of your bodies ways to expel unnecessary and harmful substances in your system.

The maturity level comes in to play when considering your method of handling the less than appealing function.
It is immature and rude to laugh at /draw attention to your flatulence. Actually, flagellating in public should be avoided. In an "emergency" situation, excuse yourself and go in the bathroom to let it out.

At home , however, it is a whole different scenario. If you have an extremely well mannered family, Follow the guidelines for public flatulence. If you have an "anything goes" family then...let 'er rip...
If your family is more middle of the road then just avoid the SBD's.

On another note... if gas is an excessive companion for you, consider a diet change or a visit to your doctor.

If you're having severe gas pains, first you need to be taking simethicone(Gas X and the ingredient of all gas tablets.) It loosens the gas and allow you to expel it. You can pass gas while you're sleeping, but you wouldn't know it. The best position is to lay on your stomach. While awake, if you get on your hand and knees and wiggle around some, that helps too. However, gas pain can be miserable, but if the pain continues, it may be something else and I'd see your Dr. Gas pains shouldn't last for hours and if the pain continues longer than that there may be an underlying problem. Try my suggestions and see if it helps. If not, make a Dr's. appt. A simple stomach X-Ray can show signs of something else.

Gas is a normal occurrence for people. If it accidentally slips out in front of someone, say "excuse me". If you feel one coming on, excuse yourself to the restroom, there is no need to explain why. If you are home alone/in your room, who cares? I have been married three years and my husband and I have never "exchanged un-pleasantries". Now I am sure that will change when I get pregnant (at that point gas is soo common you just get over it!).

If you are worried about excess gas in public, avoid eating a lot of vegetables prior to going out or take beano before you eat them. Excess gas can also be caused by an intolerance to dairy. Is anyone in your family lactose intolerant?

Yes, sweetie, everyone passes gas. The mature and lady thing to do is to do it in private. You don't have to tell everyone you have gas and let them know what kind of gas it is, just keep it private. AND most of all you don't do it in front of your b/f. Some girls think it is OK to do it in front of boys, that is so unlady like. Times have changed I know, but some old fashioned things are better to keep around and I think this is one of those things. To this day, I don't think I have ever flatulated in front of anyone especially my husband.

Sweetheart, if you never farted, you would be blown up more than a balloon. Even Queen Elizabeth cuts the cheese. Maturity is learning when to keep those little puffs in, and when to let 'em rip.

You sound like you are handling the "gas" quite well.
That is being conscious of it. Yes "old" people have gas.
As a granddad I can honestly say yes.
As we age, our immune system is not like it was at 14 or 25.
Accidoliplous bifidius can help. It comes in dry tables from ahealth food store or maybe your grocery store. Not too expensive.

of course, everyone passes gas. It is a natural body function. You may want to look into a diet change though. If you have a lot of gas it maybe something you are eating.

mature people absolutely DO NOT pass gas EVER!! we have trained ourselves not to produce gas at all. that you have this problem is an indication that you have much maturing to do. DON'T DESPAIR, with training you can condition yourself NEVER to EVER EVER pass gas again! Good Luck!

Yes, everyone passes gas. Unless you take Gas-X or Beano pills, which help stop it from happening.

Gas and maturity have no relationship at all. Gas is human. Period.

Everyone does, young and old alike. We'd blow up if we didn't. But like I was taught as a child.."better to belch/burp and taste it, than pass gas and waste it". Just be discreet about it. It's human nature. Just ignore if no one's around, if someone is, just apologize.
