I am in a new area, so word of mouth (haha) isn' an option. I have good insurance. How do I find someone good and honest?

Ask your new neighbors, or call 1-800- DENTIST and they will help find a DDS in your area.

The best way to find a good dentist is to ask around at work and ask friends. Then make your choice. Some people kind of tolerate their dentists and others just love them. So, choose one that is loved. Because it would be for a really good reason that someone would like a dentist that much.

Hate to say it, but word of mouth can be one of the best ways....BUT, IMO it depends on how high your standards are. Here's what I mean: I have a great smile and really pretty teeth --almost no one would suspect how much it's cost me to keep them. I don't have veneers or caps, but I have several porcelain crowns, root canals and even one dental implant on #30 (molar way back). When relocating, I ask as many people (ONLY W/GREAT LOOKING TEETH, lol) who their dentist is AND how "challenging" their dental case is. Many will say their doc is great, BUT all they've ever needed is a cleaning, a filling, etcetera. PEDESTRIAN! LOL (oh how I wish I were)

Find people w/great smiles who tell you they've had serious procedures. This will lead you to the most talented dentists.

Good luck!

Some of the best dentists both teach at the University and Practice.

Call the university dental school and find out who is doing practice. You will get the best of the dentists this way.

I would recommend word of mouth. Just ask ppl in the line at the grocery at work. We have found over the yrs. that referals are the way to go. It can also help you strike up a conversation if your single!
