What's better in a 40+ foot cruising catamaran, sail drives or shaft drives? And why one over the other?

This would be for liveaboard cruising for a family of four mostly sailing in the Caribbean.

having lived on boats in the Caribbean the last 30 years.......stay away from sail drives! They don't hold up, are hard to impossible to find parts and hard to impossible to find someone to work on in the Caribbean.
