I don't really care. Why do some atheists get so hateful on here with Christians? And we're the bigots!? Why be so upset at a person for having different beliefs than you? And why trash us for believing in God while at the same time, claiming that that is what is being done to you? We should all get along and just hear each other out. We're on this journey together! (somewhat)

Thanks everyone for your opinion!
I do believe it can go both ways and it is really sad!
Diana- I only put the whole "coward" thing on there so that I could get some responses, don't be so sensitive. I don't believe that we are on this journey together COMPLETELY! In some ways, yes. But I ultimately feel as though atheists and christians (notice the correct spelling, Mr. X Senior. Use your spellcheck homeboy ;)) are walking in opposite directions on the same road of life. (how poetic of me!)
Ultimately, thanks for participating! I, unlike some atheists and some christians, respect other's view although it may be different from mine.

Hey Nika, I'm a Christian who finds myself agreeing more with the Atheist's on here. Why? I find them to be more tolerant, more compassionate, and more able to laugh at themselves.
If I give a thoughtful, polite answer to a 'fundy' questions, and indicate in any way a tolerance for any other belief framework the thumbs down pile up.

"Why do some atheists get so hateful on here with Christians? And we're the bigots!? Why be so upset at a person for having different beliefs than you?"
Flip the two groups around and that works too..
"And why trash us for believing in God while at the same time, claiming that that is what is being done to you? I see just as many comments trashing god as I do trash a non beleif in god.."
In this forum there is no clear victim and aggressor.. There are daily, hourly, attacks from each side..
I am not sure why both sides can't get along. My guess would be in part backhanded comments such as "We're on this journey together! (somewhat). and Flag this if you're too cowardly to answer!" Comments clearly made to antagonize and cause unrest...
"We should all get along and just hear each other out" that comment gets a 9/10 for sheer sanctimonious content...
Please troll again...

Oh you mean you think that the Atheists are less tolerant than christians?
Well here is a dose of christian tolerance.

Just because the "wiccans" do not believe that it is evil, doesn't mean that it is not. Demons ihabit all false doctrines and witchcraft is very evil, even if it is thought of as "good".
You are being decieved and seduced by the devils tricks, turn from it and repent. Surrender your heart to JESUS and be saved, if you do, the LORD will show you what is wrong with "wicca".

I don't mind that you have different beliefs. What I mind is when you legislate your beliefs. Take for example the gay marriage issue. You might claim, or even sincerely believe, that you "love the sinner but hate the sin." However, when you deny gays their civil rights, you are showing hate, not love. It's even worse, because even mainstream Christian beliefs shield the extremist Christians who believe that "God hates fags".
Perhaps you personally don't do any of these things. But organized Christianity in the U.S. is very much doing these things. I love the U.S. because its strives for the ideal of "liberty and justice for all". Organized Christianity in the U.S. today is not living up to this ideal.
If you agree with me on this, I am not asking you to give up your ideals. Follow the main teaching of "Love thy neighbor as thyself" and speak out against extremist Christians who have forgotten that ideal. Support the 1st Amendment separation of church and state. Do these things and I won't have to speak out against the corruption of Christianity.

I am not cowardly at all. I can only answer for myself. I dont get angry at Christians. I do get angry at bigotry, misinformation and hurtfulness, but I try to respect the person who shows these behaviors and not be hateful. I realize that there are people who are not the same as I am. I respect everyone here as a human being.

I'm a live and let live person.
You dont shove your religion down my throat and I won't point out its logical flaws.
Christians must learn to let people go their own ways and Atheists must understand that some folk like having religious beliefs and the comfort it brings them.
Neither set of ideas is wrong!
No need to attack anyone.

THANK YOU. i completely agree with you.
after reading all the awful comments, ive come to this conclusion....im going to believe what i want to believe, others can say whatever the hell they want but that's not going to affect me. im only here to spread love like Jesus....that sounds really corny, but hey, whatever! :)
the thing is, people will generalize christians no matter what exactly they believe, and christians do differ in some of their beliefs. im just glad im not one of those people assuming things about us.

Dogmatic Atheism can be just as bad as dogmatic Christianity. I agree it does nothing to help our cause if atheists are hateful.
It is my judgment that all of us share a project--creating a free society. So Atheists must find some common ground with Christians and other religious people. But Christians and other religious people must find some common ground with Atheists and other secularists.

Yes, Christians are the bigots. They haunt our every move. They claim to be picked on when they are the ones who truely did start the fight. They strike out at ethnic groups, sexual orientation, and breed more hatred than anyone else. But then again why look at history?

If Christen respect other religion, then your question won't exist.
Christen wants to save others ( mean other religions are WRONG ).
And
When can't take other religion's point of view.
Like mime ( I am not atheist , would say I am Buddhist ), I always ask for God's existence. Then all the Christean I knew get offended.
So..........
