I've already had the fan and fan motor replaced along with the relay.. As far as I remember on my bill, I do not think the mechanic flushed it. But I am becoming increasingly upset with this problem as I have gone back and forth to the mechanic twice now and the first time they kept the Jeep for 2 days to replace the fan/fan motor.

Now it overheats in stop and go traffic, but on the high way it's completely fine! Can someone please help me out, I'd very very much appreciate any and all input!!

Well it could be a t-stat,radiator,water pump.Maybe you should go elsewhere because if the mechanics took it out for a real road test they would have found out that it was still overheating.Sorry to hear that you didnt get it fixed yet.Try what I wrote and your problem will be solved.Good Luck

although this is not typical of a thermostat it could be the thermostat. sounds more like you need to have the radiator cleaned though. What year of cherokee...most of these have a manual fan attatched to the engine. but it sounds like you have some kind of blockage either in front of the radiator or the radiator itslef is plugged not letting it circulate fluid well.try taking a water hose and rinsing the radiator from the back side forward...don't use a lot of pressure...so if you have an attatchment on your water hose put it on a medium setting so as not to damage the fins or the cores.

ok have the hoses and clamps replaced if never done before.as time goes on the get soft and tend to get sucked closed restricting flow. have the t stat replaced it could be stuck partially open. and finally flush the system as well as the heater core flushed seperate. i cant tell you how many times people came in and said they had their jeep flushed but still over heats ,then i flush the heater core and a ton of rust and gunk comes out.

Sounds like the fan is STILL not working.

It won't overheat on the highway, because air is blowing thru the radiator. However, if your jeep is not moving, air will not move through the radiator unless the fan is on to push the air through it.

hi first of all I'd look in the manual, under troubleshooting. But if that is no help, call a Jeep dealership and ask a mechanic. He would know better than anyone. I believe its a sensor

The same thing happened to my estranged wife's Grand Cherokee - a new thermostat solved that problem for good.

Well if it was the t stat it would still overheat. And that guy is a Jeep tech?I doubt it.I would go w/that guy bustov.I've had exactly the same problem and he described it EXACTLY.
