Im hoping to go to college out in SoCal and i really just love to beach, im not a surfer but i dress like one (not posser just like the style). Is it ok to dress like a surfer but not be one in Socal, is it to expensive to live by the beach?? I love the beach bum lifestyle. I was kind of like that before when i lived by the beach in North Carolina. Any other info you feel would be helpful I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Alot

Yes, it is definitely OK to dress the surfer style. In fact, there are a number of companies that sell nothing but surfer style clothing (like PacSun and OP).
YES, it is EXPENSIVE to live by the beach. Prices and rents increase exponentially as you get closer to the ocean. I'm wondering how it was that you lived the beach bum lifestyle, if you're still in HS. My guess is that your parents paid the bills. It's VERY different when you have to pay the bills, dude! You can't really be a beach "bum". You'll be working too hard to live near the beach to be considered a bum. An apartment or condo near the beach can easily cost 2-3 G's per month, my man. I know, totally bogus, but that's the real deal. Be sure to have a lot of scratch saved for when you come out here to "bum around".

Dress however you like. It's a beach style, not exclusive to surfers. I moved to SoCal last year and love it. But it is very expensive especially by the beach. I pay almost twice what I paid for an apartment in Michigan. And I'm not even by the beach.

Living close to the beach is beyond expensive. Cheap rent would be at least $2,000 a month. You would need roommates

COMM--If you hang out at this site at all you will here some of the outstanding attributes of San Diego....That is a city you should check out...it would suit your life style pretty good...Good Luck....
