A Bachelors degree is only three tears minimum and four if you do an Honours year, and it is done by coursework with a research thesis (12 to 15 thousand words) component in the Honours year. A Masters degree is another one to two years and is mostly research (40,000 words), or a combination of research and coursework and the thesis varies between 15,000 to 30,000 words).

Most universities offer both Bachelors Degree and a Masters (and a Doctorate or PhD). The bachelor's is the degree you get from what you would call an undergrad school. This would be the school you would transfer to right out of high school or community college. (Community colleges offer AAs or Associate's Degrees--which are considered on the job front to be "just good enough.") A bachelor's degree is necessary to obtain a Master's. I would go for the Master's if I were you. You'll also have to take the CBEST if you want to be a teacher. Even community college teachers have to have at least a Masters. I can only imagine what extra is required to teach special ed. (I'm going to go into psychology-- the thing is phychologist or psychiatrist? One requires a Master's, the other, a PhD.) Point is, whatever you decide determines how much mobility (or income) you have in the field.

you get a bachelors first. unless you are in Europe, then its slightly different

then after a bachelors.... you spend another year and a half to two years paying grad school rates on a masters degree.

you need a masters for a ton of jobs. some people get by without. Most people get a bachelors and slowly earn a masters over many years while working full time etc
