If they are caught they should do time forever. They will only have surface information. Make sure Not to do Online Banking or pay bills online! If you stay stationery, report it to the police , fbi Internet crime, Postal Inspectors, Federal Trade Commission, Social Security administration, If it is trumped up to Federal Crimes, they will do every last day and then some.

Let Federal Trade Commission Know by Certified Mail where you have lived and worked for 10 or more years, depensding on your age! Have yourself fingerprinted, make one card for yourself and send the other to Federal Trade Commission along with a recent Enlarged color photograph, your exact height and weight. Get recent copies of your Credit and place a Credit Freeze on it! That will stop snoopers and low level criminals.

I have yet to hear of anyone actually going to jail for Identity theft. If I had my way, they would serve at least a month for every day it took for the victim to repair the damage. If it takes 12 days to repair the damage, you serve at least a year.
