Tyler Walker just got suspened and shane Hmiel was caught like 2 years ago. Those both were guys who had a chance at getting good and blew it on drugs.

I am glad NASCAR was so tough on them. Shane had two opportunties to straighten out before he finally got let go.

I know if I was a Driver I would not one someone going door to door with me at 190mph while on drugs.

NASCAR did the right thing and in forced the rule of NO TOLERANCE. Shane Hmiel was caught the first time and was put on probation, and then he was caught the second time and was suspended indefinitely which was the right call on NASCAR's side. Hmiel was a talented driver and threw it all away on drugs/alcohol. By doing this NASCAR set a precedence of being a NO TOLERANCE sport. If you look at other sports, they give players too many chances and in return it drags the sport down. NASCAR refused to do that, so they did what they did to set an example so that people will think twice about doing it.

I back NASCARs actions that they took with Tyler Walker and his substance abuse. He violated the stock-car body's substance abuse policy which they hold strict too. No one should be able to continue with their racing car when they are caught abusing substances. If NASCAR haven't taken those actions I am sure the Bill Davis Racing would have taken the matter in their own hands by banning him. It is still not known whether or not Tyler Walker will still be employeed by Bill Davis Racing but it definately doesn't look good. He could have come to be a great driver but yet he fouled up and now he will have to pay the price and probably never race again for NASCAR.

They are thrust into the spotlight too fast, and like anybody else, they get mixed up with the wrong crowd, and it kills their career. Back in 1990, I believe, there was an up-and-coming driver named Rob Moroso. He wasn't even 21 at the time, but he and a girl who was in the car with him as he left a race were both killed in an accident not far from the track where he had just raced in a Winston Cup race. His blood alcohol content was extremely high and he wasn't even old enough to drink legally! For some reason, they still gave him "Rookie of the Year" even though he didn't last the whole season. NASCAR is just trying to prevent a similar occurrence.

He's a good driver and an impresive driver coming from a short track the way he did.
If he follows NASCAR rehab plan he may be re instated but would be tested every race and at multipal times thru out the season.

It is really sad to see any up and coming athlete of any sport blow their shot on drugs! How sad to work so hard on a God given talent and throw it all away for a few hours of cheap thrills.

Just a bunch of drivers that abused what they had, nothing more than that.

Its sad, but drugs, and racing at 180-200mph does not mix, period.

is a shame that drugs take such a front stage regardless of sport...the penalties were more than just...how could anyone drive and do drugs? It is a sad statement these days

Can you imagine a racer at 180 or 190m.p.h. on drugs? You not only endanger other drivers but pit crews, officials, fans and yourself.About as stupid as a drunk pilot.Oh wait that's happened too.
