Does anyone have any ideas about bridal shower games or food. My sister, my mom, and I are throwing a party for my cousin. Any suggestions about food, games, or advice would be welcome. Thanks for the ideas!

I like the one that before the shower you give the groom a bunch of personal questions and the bride must answer them at the shower. If she gets them wrong you can either make her take a shot or add another piece of gum in her mouth! Its fun and cute.
Questions like childhood events, things that happen with friends, his first impression of you, best memory..... see how well you know him.

The key to bridal shower games is: 1. Keep them short and sweet. 2. Teams/pairs work best, to keep people talking and interactive. 3. Dont do too many games. 3 should be sufficient. For example, Bridal BINGO is the absolute worst game ever! Who wants to mark on sheet every time the bride opens a gift? Zzzzz.. Look for games that are short and let people talk. Put some songs about love on an iPod speaker and put the ladies in pairs. Whoever can name the most songs by their correct title (or artist) is the winner. Another one, is a little ridiculous, but its all in good fun. Put the ladies in two teams and give each team some toilet paper or paper towels and tape. Each team designs a dress, which one team member models. Basically you wrap the paper around the model to get your desired design. Whichever dress the bride likes better is the winner. Sorry I dont have more suggestions for you. Hope this helps you find some good ones though.

A male stripper is always fun! Seriously, though, if they are a fun crowd, there's this site called 'Lovers Lane' and it has a lot of bridal shower games, board games, drinking games (it doesn't have to be liquor), contests for cute prizes (again, for a FUN crowd). My bridal shower is still being talked about 10 years later! I think finger foods are the way to go here. Nothing fussy, messy, or takes more than 15 minutes to throw together if you run out. It was fun. Of course, if I got the male stripper it would have been better! LOL Have fun, it's only one day. Good luck and many blessings for your future.

My bridal shower was this past January. My bridesmaids took pretzels and melted a Rolo on it and put a pecan (I think) on top. They were a huge hit and very easy and affordable to make. You can probably find a recipe on the Internet. They put them in little white boxes tied with red ribbons (red and silver were my winter wedding colors.)

Depending on how many people will be there... my co-workers did this really cool game for a shower put on by my company. Each woman brought a canned good (veggies, soup, etc) and the lady in charge brought a few extra in case someone forgot. They had called my fiancee the week before to ask him questions, and he wasn't allowed to tell me about it. Then each time I opened someone's gift, they asked me a question (the questions and answers were in a notebook prepared by the organizer of the game), such as where did you first kiss him? If I answered the same as him, I got to keep the can. If he and I gave different answers, they ripped the label off the can and I still had to take it home, with no idea what was inside! It was a lot of fun for me (kind of like the dating game) and everyone learned more about how we met and what we liked to do. They asked where I would want to go on vacation, where he would go, favorite colors, our first date.... use your imagination to create your own!

There's always the toilet paper bridal dress, or if you are throwing a more intimate party make lingerie out of the tp, and at my bridal shower they did bingo and filled in the squares with what they thought i would get. then if they got it right they would put a sticker on it and the first person to get a bingo won a prize.

Hope this helps!

Ice Breaker Bridal Shower Games
Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Divide the guests into two or more teams of at least three people each. The teams are given rolls of toilet paper, and each team chooses a "bride." Give the teams 20 minutes to create a wedding dress on their "bride" using the toilet paper. At the end of the allotted time, vote for the best wedding dress and the funniest, and give prizes to the winners.

The Clothespin Game To begin, choose a "buzz word" such as bride, groom, wedding, etc. When each guests comes into the party, hand them a clothespin. Then, if someone hears another person saying the "buzz word," they get to take that person's clothespin. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the party wins. (Another variation is that a guest loses her clothespin when she crosses her legs, a hard task for a party full of women!)

Purse Scavenger Hunt or Let's Make a Deal Remember that old game show, Let's Make a Deal? At the end of every show, Monty Hall would give audience members money for a specific unusual item. This is the same idea. Divide guests into teams of two or three, giving them a list of slightly unusual items, including a few "why in the world would you carry that in a purse?" items. Assign points to each item based on the likelihood that someone will have it. (a lipstick carries 10 points, a can opener 90 points). The team with the most points is the winner. Another variation is to call out items as the bride is opening presents, giving a small individual prize for each item.

Cotton Head Choose a guest to go first, and sit her in the middle of the room. Hand her a bowl full of cotton balls and a wooden spoon, and blindfold her. The object of the game is to pile as many cotton balls on your own head as possible within a certain amount of time (30 seconds or so.) After everyone has had a turn, the guest who got the most cotton balls on her head wins a prize.

Two Truths and a Lie Each guest introduces herself, and tells the group three things about herself; two are true, one is a lie. Guests then write down, or shout out which one they think is a lie. If a guest is shy, the host should whisper in her ear some ideas for the lie.

Who Am I? Before the party, make a list of famous romantic couples These can be real: Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, fictional: Fred and Wilma Flintstone, contemporary: David and Courtney Cox Arquette, or ancient: Antony and Cleopatra. Other famous couples: Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Robert and Elizabeth Browning, Romeo and Juliet, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. Choose couples that your guests are likely to know. Write each name down separately on name tags and as each guest arrives, put a name tag (without showing them) on their back. Their task is to go around the party and ask yes or no questions about their "secret identity." For example, "am I a fictional character?" "Am I a man?" Then, they have to find their "better half". The game ends when everyone has found their partner, award a prize to the first couple to do so.

Food:
Here are some ideas that might get you started thinking about what you will serve at the shower itself:• Heavy Appetizers. If you have a mid-to-late afternoon shower, you might want to consider heavy appetizers instead of a full meal to serve the guests. Stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, nachos, egg rolls, quiche, different dips/dipping items, etc., are all great ideas that might get you started.• Buffet Dinner. If you are hosting an evening shower, you might consider having a buffet dinner for your guests to make serving the food simpler and the food choices easier. Baked chicken, ham, roast beef, or salmon, depending on the bride’s tastes, are all great starters. You can also include rice pilaf, pasta salad, twice baked potatoes, a salad or cole slaw, steamed veggies, and other side dishes that complement the main meat item are also great ideas to incorporate. Warm rolls or bread should be served, along with the traditional bridal shower cake for dessert. • Sandwiches/BBQ. If your bride is less formal, a good old-fashioned BBQ or “make-your-own” sandwiches along with potato salad, pasta salad, chips and dip or veggies and dip is a great, low-cost consideration for your budget.• Themed dinner. Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, or Americana—whatever the theme—incorporate that type of food along with it!Remember when determining your shower menu to consider the taste and personality of the bride. If the bride will enjoy the food served and the atmosphere it conveys, then you’ve done an excellent job in creating the shower of her dreams.

Get the Weddling Planner and the Caterer to discuss over lunch.
That would have solved lots of problems.

We played "Guess the white substance" and it was pretty funny. Host should put all household substance that is white in clear baggies and guests should guest what they are. Really fun to do.
