How do I update my video drivers so that they will run linux?

At the moment redhat9.0 linux just shuts down my monitor.

You don't say what video card you have. There is a problem with most laptop ATI Radeon cards, in that ATI don't make their drivers available on open source. The thing to do is to install RedHat in text-only mode, then update the X configuration with your Windows drivers. You should be able to find a guide online to do that.

from my limited experience with several linux distros.linux is very picky about video cards it will work with .my suggestion is try a different video card. i think it works well with an ati card.
