There are So Many!

Assuming you have some time to read these lists
people will give AND get to listen to them,
let me just toss out my opinion and faves
and of course, I'll leave off a thousand
that I'll wish I'd thought of...

Texas Flood ~ Stevie Ray Vaughan

She's Nineteen Years Old ~ Muddy Waters

Down In the Hole [and] Fancy Man Blues ~ The Rolling Stones

I Can't Quit You, Baby ~ Led Zeppelin
Red House ~ Jimi Hendrix

and of course, all things Robert Johnson!!!

...in No Way am I deliberately leaving off others, I'm just goin' for off top my head.

Also, I think BB King's Three O'Clock in the Morning is infinitely wondrous.

AND: Eric Clapton's Double Trouble, Worried Life Blues, and Rambling On My Mind, from his Just One Night
cd.

>>Sincerely hope I've helped.

"Cocaine" by Eric Clapton

I dig some Muddy Waters stuff too, but I don't know if I'd consider anything he did the best of blues. Although I really like "Louisiana Blues" and "I Can't Be Satisfied."

I don't know if Hendrix counts, because most consider him psycadelic rock, but he crossed over in blues all the time so I'll go for it.

"Bold as Love" and "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix

"Down on Me" and "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin.

Overall though, "Cocaine" by Clapton is the best I've heard so far.

My grandma recorded a song called "Come Rain or Come Shine" you can find it in Karoake but not her version. You can pull her version if you search her name in yahoo: "Claire Austin". If you understand that this recording is half a century old and music is different now and just listen to the melody of the song it is amazing! It is such a great song, good luck in your contest!

I can't believe that one of these joke answers knocked down Muddy Waters in favor of Eric Clapton. Muddy Waters is the Father. Go get his CD, "HIs Best: 1947-1955," and "His Best, 1956-1964." Every great song by Muddy is on those two CDs. You also need to get Howlin' Wolf's collection, "His Best," on Chess, as well as others in the same series by Sonny Boy Williamson and Little Walter. They're all on Chess and they're all entitled "His Best." Those are the stone solid roots and everybody (including all those white English boys) stole everything they knew from those guys.
