It's not healthy to eat one meal per day. Don't eat less meals! Trust me, it won't help you lose weight like most people like to think. Less meals with more time in between will not only keep your diet imbalanced, but it makes your body cling on to every calorie you take in rather than processing it.

For weight loss, it's actually good to eat six meals a day, as long as they're smaller than the food you take in during a three-meal diet and healthy. Stick to fiber-rich foods or fruits and veggies. The point is to keep you feeling fuller longer, while taking in less calories overall.

The formula for weight loss is simple for most folks. Eat less(but don't starve), and exercise. It does take time, and it'll be difficult/frustrating in the beginning, but after three weeks, you should start noticing that you will fell better, and exercise will become second nature. Just don't give up. Think of Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Weird, I know, but it works for me!

Good luck on weight loss! I'm trying to do the same, and the six meal thing works great!

Did you see a nutritionist before you changed your diet? How tall are you?

Usually, if you are extremely obese then a diet consisted of only liquid would be given to you by a nutritionist. If you used to eat 6 meals a day then you don't need to go from 6 to 1 meal because this will cause your body to think that it's starving and cause it to conserve the calories and nutrition that you consumed in that one meal. In this case, it will hinder your ability to lose more weight faster and you don't want that.

Instead, have only 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner). The second you wake up, have breakfast, which should be the biggest meal out of the 3. Lunch should be the second largest and dinner should be more of a snack rather than a full meal. This is due to the way your metabolism starts the second you have that first meal and decreases to an almost stop when you sleep. When having lunch, have it around 1-3 pm instead of at 12 exactly. Cut down on any food that contains multiple preservatives (ie: McDonald's, BK, Chef Boyadee, microwaveable pizza, etc), but you should do this gradually so the cravings for it won't be as harsh.

Exercise is also crucial since no real weight loss program contains only a diet. Just taking the stairs instead of the elevator can do more than you may think.

Worse thing you can do is eat 1 meal a day. It'll be one giant meal and you'll be hungry at the end of day. Causing your body to store even more fat.

Take your six meals a day, replace each meal with something healthy. Some kind of meat (not fried) and some kind of bread, pasta, and/or rice (but not a whole lot). Don't forget your fruits and veges (which is probably the most important you should focus on).

If you feel the urge to binge, do so in fruits and vegetables. When was the last time you heard of someone getting fat from eating too much apples or carrots?

Keep your proportions down and maybe exercise some. Usually the average american eats 3-5x more than they should. Not counting all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants.

Good luck. And I went from 240 to 215 with 3x more muscle mass. A complete change in appearance. It's possible my friend. Just be persistant.

No, it's NOT healthy to eat only 1 meal a day.

Yes, you should limit caloric intake but cutting out meals entirely is not the way to do it.

Start by cutting out the junk you eat. Soda, chips, candy, dessert foods... anything with high amounts of sugar.

That alone will help you lose some weight.

If you're 18, I'm going to assume you still live with your parent(s). If that's the case, offer to go grocery shopping for them if they aren't buying healthy food. Then search through the produce aisles. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables that taste good and they're the healthiest foods to eat.

If you can't cook, I suggest buying a "healthy eating" cookbook. A lot of unhealthy oils and fats come from the way foods are cooked.

Also, make sure the meat you're eating is LEAN. Generally speaking, if a meat has a lot of white lumps or spots in it, you shouldn't be eating it.

It also never hurts to excersise. Start out small if you have to. Just walk for a half hour 5 days a week and you should see improvements in your fitness and health within a month and a half or so.

Hope I helped. :)

Hi, don't eat one meal a day. If you want to keep eating 6 meals a day you can, people are saying nowdays that 'grazing' is good for your body and keeps your metabolism up throughout the day. But in these 6 meals, they must be healthy, SMALL portions such as a small piece of chicken and salad. Try not to eat carbs after 4 pm and try not to eat within 1.5 hours of bedtime. Eating 1 meal a day will only make you grouchy and hungry. Goodluck :)
**cutting back your dairy intake is a good weight loss tip**

At your age, you need more than 1 meal a day.
Also, the switch from 6 meals to 1 meal is too drastic, your body will respond by slowing your metabolism and the stress will cause you to gain weight.

Instead of cutting back on meals. Start with eating healthier meals, but still eat until you are full. Later, gradually reduce the time between meals (so you eat fewer meals per day), but still eat until you are full.

It's really bad to eat 1 meal a day. You'll go into starvation mode and it would be harder for you to lose weight when you feel hungry all the time. 6 meals a day is actually good for you but they have to be much smaller quantities and much better quality than you currently do. Eat more complex carbohydrates (like whole grain breads) and green leafy vegetables (like spinach). Limit red meat intake to 6oz or less per day and eat less fatty meats like skinless chicken breasts. Just changing your diet and consumption will help you reduce your weight. Increasing your activity will also reduce your weight further.

To lose weight you have to feed your bodies metabolism, and if you deny it that you will gain weight more than really lose. The first thing is that you have to eliminate that junk food, instead of eating six time a day of pure junk eat more healthy like fruits and veggies. Also exercise and do it often, at least four times a week for 30mins. Eat plenty of lean meats like chicken or turkey, no fried foods, bake, boiled or grilled. Cut down the salt and sugar, no soft drinks, that includes sodas, they are nothing more than sugar. And eat whole foods, like wheat bread and brown rice. I've done this and I've lost 54pounds, and now I've got plenty of muscle to show for it, so just eat right and train hard, goodluck!

No... its not healthy to eat one meal a day.

You should eat at least 3 meals a day... but not a plate full of food.
Calculate your calorie intake... and eat about 1600 calories.
Eat yogurt... fruits... grilled seafood...
Eat less carbs... don't cross them out of your diet but just decrease the amount.
Instead of eating white bread... eat whole grain...
stuff like that... plus exercising every other day for 1-2 hours should do the trick.
BUT remember it takes time to lose the weight... if you wanna stay healthy.
Those who loose weight fast are actually damaging their body.

Good Luck.

No it isn't healthy to eat just one meal a day. Your body needs calories (energy) over the course of the day to function properly. Why not try to eat 6 small meals a day with no more than 1,200 calories for the day?

Good luck. You'll need to do some research for yourself, but you can do it if you put your mind to it.
