I had insurance for my dog when I got her just to be on the safe side in case of anything. I got it for her until she was 1 year old and couldn't really keep it caz the cost was goin to much! I had pet care gold for my dog through this insurance ( I put the link for you) their customer service is very friendly if you ever need to call. You file your own papers, if your dogs goes in you bring your own form and have the vet/office fill it out and then mail it in. But keep in mind that once u do file something your premium price rises. Mine rose 3 dollars for filing an ear infection my dog had. You also need to take your dog to the vet for an annual check up and get a copy of the check up report and mail it into the insurance.

The cost of how much you will pay for the insurance depends on what kind of insurance you get for your dog and also on what type of dog breed it is, you will see the list when you enroll.

For the insurance you still have to pay up front first for the service and then submit the forms to the insurance and they will reimburse you with a check in the mail.. But make sure you know whether the treatment/procedure is covered first or not.

Hope this helped!

www.petinsurance.com is the web site for VPI--the leading pet insurance company. The web site can explain more detail to your questions. Basically, you pay a monthly fee and they will reimburse you (not the vet) for any sickness that is covered by them.

Ask your work about offering pet insurance
www.petinsurance.com/

My work did for us and it was $10-30 cheaper.

You can pay per month, or you can pay annually. runs about $2-300 annually.

You can get it for cats and dogs.. and even exotics depending on the insurance.

No pre-existing conditions are covered.
