Keep in mind those Truck drivers have Air Conditioning.

The stock car drivers have no Air Conditioning and are stuck in the car at temperatures of over 120 degrees Farenheight for three to four hours at a time in heavy fireproof suits.

And Danica Patrick drive a car that can't retain heat around the driver as well.

Strap yourself into a cramped racecar for three hours or so, drive at speeds approaching 200 MPH in some places, and try to beat as many as 42 other people to the finish line, and just hope that your concentration does not lapse, and that you don't have mechanical trouble. LOOK OUT! Here comes the wall! Aw, didn't even make the first turn, huh? Loser! Anybody can drive a CAR, as long as your 16. To drive a racecar takes more guts, and determination than you will ever know.

What are you trying to get at? You want credit as an athlete for being so stupid is that it? A truck driver does not have keep himself in shape, or deal with the g-forces, or climb in and out of his car, just a retarded question. Now the truck driver who screwed your mom should be considered an athlete, that's a lot of weight he dealt with you know? It's never easy to answer a question not worth answering, but when someone is as profoundly stupid as you are, I feel that it is necessarry to drop you a line and let you know. In closing, I've seen alot of stupid questions on here, but yours is one of the stupidest. Congrats: YOU "OR" A HORRIBLE QUESTION POSER. And that truck driver should have taught you how to spell genius.

TO PR24FAN:
I'm so sorry for insulting your son, who was just asking an honest question right? It is so lame that you think you are the policeman of the internet coming to rescue the guy who can't spell. Well, in my opinion, he shouldn't come to the NASCAR SECTION OF ANSWERS TO BASH OUR SPORT. You know? And maybe you don't like women, since you are so fine with him and his thought process, but, I wasn't raised to just degrade women. The only thing worse than him for coming here and posing that question to racing fans, is you for defending him. Why do you not defend women? And just to let you both know, while I am not a fan, Danica Patrick is a hell of a driver, and athlete to do what she does. You are telling others not to be prejiduce, and calling them ignorant, yet you are defending a sexist, offensive question. That makes no sense.

If you can get a car with almost 800hp to 185+mph, your an athlete. Mike Waltrip fails to do this.

If you can get your car in a tight formation for around 500 laps without crashing yourself or others, your an athlete. That eliminates Montoya in the athlete catagory.

If you can do the sport without crapping on yourself, your an athlete. Tony #20 dumped that catagory. No pundit intended.

If you can become so good at the sport that the owner will bend over backwards to keep you on thier team, your an athlete. Sorry ShortnStoudt. I wont mention his name.

If your on a team where everyone has won at least one race 1/3 of the season, your an athlete. Hendricks Motor Sports.

I know what it takes to be a pro driver... and it is endurance, strength, stamina and a very sharp mind to make split second decisions to avoid wrecking... you are driving on the verge of losing control of your car on every turn. Try doing that with enough G forces to cause your muscles to ache with every turn of the wheel!
I am also amazed at the ignorance of some of the responces here... Why are you calling anyone a moron, or stupid? Why do you feel that cutting someone down will there opinion of what a sport is or isnt? I dont feel that golf is a sport due to the fact that you can call for absolute quiet, can stop your approach at the ball, reline your shot. And its not a direct competition against everyone and you. Its a skill, and to play at the pro level you have to perfect those skills to the highest level.... but I feel its not a sport. Others may disagree and that is fine, you are entitled to your opinion! So remember that when you are thinking about calling other people names and cutting them down because they dont share your beliefs! Dont be predjudice!

I must quote once again (I hope I don't get sued by Anhesuer -Busch). There is a Busch commercial that says "Some say NASCAR is not a sport; and we think they're right; it's a lifestyle."

Let me share something with you. Since the dawn of time there have been many sports and games that have come and gone. In fact many of the sports we have today are less then 200 years old.

Racing has been with us since the dawn of time. From foot races, to chariots, to horse, to cars, to even airplanes. Man has always raced and will always race.

Though I love football, baseball, basketball, and hockey; they too will pass away; but there will always be racing. So we may not be a sport in your eyes; but from what I am seeing what we love may change names and vehicles; but it will last long past any SPORT you love.

Montoya is not an athlete????? Name one Nascar driver that could possibly hope to win a Grand Prix, or overtake Schumacher. I am including Jeffrey Gordon.

Danica doesn't drive stock cars. What would she know. I can not beleive you are comparing racing to long haul truck driving. Do some research, idiot.
