Wow. It sounds like you are mad at Christians. I would disagree that Christians don't question the Bible, some of us do. There are reason that some Christians don't question the Bible., 1) Despite the man wrote the Bible, it was God who inspired them or 2) you have to have faith. Not very good reason, but none the less, reasons.
What do you mean by question the Bible? Do you mean the stories or the spirit of the word? I have always believed that the Bible is a collection of stories that give example of the type of people we should become. I know the stories in the Bible are based in on some facts. For example: We all have heard of Noah's Ark and the great flood. Well there is evidence a great flood (that predates the Bible) around the area we know as Iran. The are also many ancient (text) stories that predate the Bible that speak of a "Deluge" that covered the world. One such story is the Sumerian epic of "Gilgamesh" (my favorite book). "Gilgamesh" predates the Bible by about 800 years!
The are two problems with the Bible. 1) People take it literally. People believe that Noah gathered two of every animal in the world. I think that is laughable. It is more likely that he gathered 2 of every animal from his village or farm.
2) Our point of reference. As an 8 year old child, we thought that $10.00 was a lot of money, but our perspective changed as we grew older and wiser. To Noah, the Persian Gulf area may have been the world.
I think you make a good point about how people do not question the Bible, but I would also like to point out that most people that do not accept the Bible also choose not look for proof of how the Bible is false. They just accept it as easily as some Christians accept it's validitiy. Those people probably have not read the Bible, much less anything else that may prove or disprove the Bible.
One last point that I would like to make, and hopefully win your understanding and help answer your question. Because one call themselves "Christian" does not mean that they are a Christian. I call my self an eagle as much as I want, but I still can't fly. In my past I have dealt with too many people that claim to be "Christian" but are nothing more that hypocrites. They think that the laws of God must be followed, until it interferes with them in some way.

I have taken the time of research the English developments of the Bible - That's the 1611 Authorized Version. Which was done by DR. Paul Reynolds and his group of scholars, of which you are probable not aware of.
His translations was compared to original manuscripts which the world came into contact with years later, and in comparison, showed the 1611 to be about 98 % to the original.
The church you are referring to is the Catholic church that came into power under Constantine the Great. Did you forget that during this time, many followers of Jesus, fled from the church of Rome, and started livinng in the hills, caves and catocombs? As the Church / State of Constantine continued to flourish.
Itt was durning this time that the changes started taking place! It would be years later - When the Church founded by Jesus, and upon Jesus, the Christ, the Son of The Living God would take a step back out into the World - Preaching Justification by Faith.
So, you friend, I pray for you as you go on believing what you like.
However, down through time the Bible has prozen time and time again, to be, what it, in itself, claims the be - The Word of God.
For the nature and characteric of a book can only stand because of the contents within it. A Science Book is called a Book of Science, because the contents are scientific. A History Book is called a Book of History, because the contents are Historical, and etc, etc.
But, not only does the Word of God, claim within itself it is the Word of God - God is also, It's Guardian! The lion dens, the burning at the stakes, and all the persucution the world could throw at the New Testament Church, they couldnt stop to spread of the Gospel. And even through Constantine the Great, caused it to flee for a while. Years later it came forth again, and spead like a wild fire of the western plane.
And today, the church - The New Testament Church is still going strong, in the Lord Jesus.
You call us who believe ignorant? I have to ask here - Who is really the ignorant one!

The Bible was written by men, but God told them what to write. There are several different languages that the Bible is in, but if you compare all of them, they all say the same thing.
I do know that books have been banned by churches and I do agree that they shouldn't have been. Not all Christians avoid situations that are unpleasant when it comes to the church. Christians are not perfect and don't let any of them tell you that we are.
As for the scriptures that you say that we say are evil, no verse in the Bible is evil or not Christian. We might say that verses in books not in the Bible, like the Book of Mormon, are not Christian, though. Please don't stereotype Christians, though. There are many Christians that do know all of the research of their faith. There are probably some atheists that don't know all what they believe. The same goes for Mormons, Buddhists, and Muslims. We try, but aren't perfect.

Because it is backed by centuries of tradition, it is familiar, and most of all because it is safe. Its the same reason you stay in an unhealthy relationship, or keep going to a job you hate. Its the same reason your choose sunglasses, shoes and cars that seems to express your individuality, but actually look just like everyone else's. . .
We always tend to choose what is familiar and what is accepted by others over what is risky and unknown, even if the familiar brings pain or is nonproductive. Its a sad state, but it's humanity. Christianity was once a path for rebels and martyrs, a very risky path indeed. Now, it's just the opposite: it's the safest thing going.
I did not say that Christianity was bad. In its essence, it is the most beautiful spiritual path going, and I follow it. But, it seems to me that most Christians have missed what incredible truths lie at the heart of Christianity. It's out there . . . or perhaps I should say it's in there - you just gotta do a little searching.

I have personally asked my self these questions, and I do consider my self agnostic/other at this point. But you have to understand, nobody actually knows and in a relative sense they have about the same chance of being "right" you do. Because all though humans are intelligent they are still stupid, in comparison to everything that can be known and that can be understand, and thier is already lots of sciences that humans can prove, but not comprehend, so in the scheme of things you know just as little as any Christian, because we are all so small, yet so big.
But I do agree people should ask themselves these questions, and search the answer, and I do know lots of Christians who have asked and answered these questions for themselves in what I see as a very inteligent way.
Don't be pretentious and don't put your beliefs above others, because we all no nothing, and we really can't comprehend anything :)

First of all, I'm a Christian and I firmly believe in God and all that He is about. Having said that...the Bible does have hundreds of translations and all of the printed bibles today were translated from different languages over several hundred years before they were even more loosely translated at the discretion of the publisher into the various "versions" that exist today.
And, to boot, why do we allow so many different denominations of Christianity? Can ANYONE tell me where the bible states there should be Lutherans and Baptists and Catholics and Methodists and that each of them serves their own purpose in the eyes of God?
How does that HAPPEN?!
Praise God Almighty!
Amen.

The King James Version is really a collection of dozens of different versions of the holy text that were translated by other individuals along with his people hand picked intellectuals of their time that were ordered by the king, under penalty of law, to put forth the best interpretation possible for the common people. All the text that were assembled were considered holy text by their origins and to this day - yes there are too many versions in to days market and thus I recommend the one proved true " King James Versions ". AMEN!

Yes, it is a sad affair when people believe in fairy tales, I know. The only defense I can give for them is that they were forced into by their parents and brainwashed for it as such a young age, it is all they know. The other fairy tales stopped being talked of as they grew, but their parents persisted with this one, so in the child's mind ... it became real. Now they live the delusion as if it were real life surrounding them, criticize anyone who doesn't believe or feels the "spirit" but gives it another name, and thus make themselves hypocrites. I suppose their brains would collapse if the truth were to enter, and so they build a very think, DENSE wall.
yes, I have read that book of fables.

they/we don't question the bible because it is perfect. if you try to contradict it then somebody can just open it up and shoot then out of the sky. yes, it written by god through men (except the ten commandments, that was all him) so, simply put, god did write the bible. you might but we believe all the bible. they don't have the drive and discipline a christian filled with the holy spirit has.
so there ya go

I am surprised God did not mention you. You of course were there at creation. Watched over God's shoulder as He watched men write the Bible. Saw how powerless God was to keep His words safe. Why did he not mention someone so brillant? Not one word about you. HMMMMmm!
Could it be your just not as bright as you assume you are?
