in case you study the historic previous of the Mormons and of the Watch Tower Society (jehova witnesses) you will see they meet each and every of the standards of being a cult.... CULT - Any team which has a pyramid sort authoritarian management shape with all coaching and education coming from the guy/persons on the suitable. the team will declare to be the only thank you to God and could use theory reform or indoctrination strategies to benefit administration and save their contributors. those communities coach the important doctrines of the Christian faith and then upload the greater authority of management or somebody's specific writings.(JW, Mormons do this very element).. They centre around the interpretations of the management and submissive and unquestioning attractiveness of those is important to be a member of excellent status.. The Mormon Council regulations the LDS, and The Watch tower society regulations the Jehova Witnesses. Their leaders declare a undeniable, unique ministry, revelation or place of authority given via God. they suspect they're the only real church and take a intense stance relating to the Christian church whilst on the comparable time praising and exalting their own team, chief/s and artwork. They use intimidation or psychological manipulation to maintain contributors dependable to their ranks. this may well be interior the type of threats of dire calamity sent via God in the event that they leave; specific dying at Armageddon; being avoided via their pals and kin etc. this could be a considered necessary portion of the strategies administration technique. there'll be finished administration over just about all factors of the own lives of contributors. This administration could be direct by way of communal dwelling, or consistent and repetitious coaching on "a thank you to be a real Christian" or "being obedient to management". contributors will seem to their leaders for education in each and every thing they do. Any dissent or thinking of the team's teachings is discouraged. criticism in any sort is seen as rebel. there'll be an emphasis on authority, unquestioning obedience and submission. it is vigilantly maintained under possibility of punishment, avoided,disfellowshipped, ect ect mormons at the instant are not accepted to questions the elders of the LDS and the JW are forbidden to question the Watch Tower. The Mormons and Jehova Witnesses are cults... besides as dissimilar different denominations of christianity....

From the horses mouth: As a JW, we are most definitly true Christian. We seem to be the only ones who are. I say that because we only believe in what the Bible says is true. Men's teachings are not allowed.

What the Bible says is Almighty God of Creation has a name. It is in Psalms 83: 18. Jehovah. His true followers both know and use that name.

Jesus is God's only begotten son. That is, the only one Jehovah personally created. Everything else, the Bible explains, was made through Jesus.

Jesus is in complete agreement with Jehovah. That does not mean he is equal to Jehovah. Several times he said, "My Father is greater than I." (John 14:28)

We do the work he told christians to do. To preach and teach the good news of God's Kingdom in all the earth. (Matt. 24:14) That is why we knock on doors just as Jesus and the apostles did.

Why don't we do and behave as other religions do? That is because Bible principles tell true Christians not to.

Jesus only ordered true Christians to keep one holiday or celebration. That was his death due to what it means for mankind. He specifically warned against mixing false religions with the true Christianity. Most holidays and celebrations today have pagan origins. It makes a difference to both Jehovah and Jesus, so, it makes a difference to us.

They follow a self proclaimed prophet instead of God. "Real christians" as you say, remember the part of the bible about testing any who call themselves prophets. I'm not saying they didn't test them, but it certainly appears unlikely. Anyone who tries to re-write the bible or add to it, also should come into a lot of scrutiny, which I think maybe they didn't bother with either. I can't say they're not real christians, I don't know anyone else's heart, and I'm not anyone else's judge, just my opinion. I can honestly say I've never met a rude mormon. The JW's aren't exactly rude, but quite annoying.

I do have a problem with the high echelon members of the mormon church becoming little demi-gods of their own little planets. Sounds an awful lot like the scientologists, which are most certainly a whacko cult. The bible tells us the ones who inherit heaven won't be the powerful on earth, which kinda contradicts the whole big church member gets to be a demi-god thing.

Jehovahs Witnesses are Christians, not a cult. Christian means to be Christ like...Jehovahs Witnesses live their lives according to what the Bible teaches. They follow Christs examples...For those that say Jehovahs Witnesses arent Christian are wrongfully mistaken. They believe in Jesus Christ & the ransom sacrifice. They follow Jesus' commandments, more so than any other religion. That is why they go out door to door, it was a commandment, "Preach this good news of the Kingdom to all the inhabited earth...."Go & make disciples..." what do you think he was saying...they follow that. So to think they are a cult, when they are in fact following the Bible, applying its teachings & living accordingly to what the WHOLE, bible says, not just parts of it or what appeals to them or what is easier....to think that or say that is absurd...They are true Christians...

I just looked up the word cult in my dictionary & it says the following:
"A system of belief and worship; a subject of devoted study"

So, according to my dictionary all religions are cults.
Or in other words, if you're going to call one religion a cult then you can call any religion a cult basically.
Of course, as we know, the word "cult" nowadays has negative connotations.

Now why would you want to give negative connotations to groups of nice friendly peace-loving Christians (people who love & spread the word about Jesus)?

it depends on who you talk to. any christian wack job will tell you that they are cults.

however, they are real organized churches, and do a lot of good charitable acts, and probably follow more closely what christ had in mind.

the mormons were on the scene at katrina wayyy before fema or any government organization was. where were all the so called "christians?" oh yea.....they were the ones sitting with their thumbs up their butts complaining that nobody was there to bail them out...............

You could say they are a copy of the Jewish Cult that separated themselves some 1900 years ago

Talking to one of my regular passengers, whose a Rabbi, I would say most Christians have much the same problem with JWs that ancient Jews had with the first Christians who they viewed as having been started by an uneducated ex-carpenter of the Jewish Lower Class who was executed for cause by the governing authority. The only education he had was by Mary and Joseph, in the view of the Jews, he made up most of what he said.

He recruited other uneducated, lower class individuals, such as a failed fisherman (Peter) and a hated tax collector (Matthew).

Lacking any formal education, they were easy to manipulate into believing he was the Messiah, something that was impossible, as he did not bring about the destruction (Armageddon) of the enemies of the Truly Blessed People of God, the Israelites, as was prophesied.

After his lawful execution, these clearly brainwashed followers began going door to door telling their brethren that the traditional beliefs, rituals, and observances (holidays), dating back hundreds of years, were no longer valid.

They began creating their own scriptures, to support their false beliefs, instead of relying on the Holy Torah, which had sustained God’s People for hundreds of years.

Finally, there were highly educated individuals, especially in the religious arts, such as Saul of Tarsus, who could clearly prove that they were a false cult, bent on leading God’s People down a false path to destruction.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_of_Tarsus

What happened to them, as a result of their false teachings, and their door to door work, was only to be expected of people who have lost their way.

Clearly, what you may or may not think of JWs is reliant on your point of view, just as it was in those first years. Having an advanced education in religion does not mean that you are right, only that you sound that way.

JWs may have come from a simple, and some times, erratic beginnings, but at least they are making a valid effort to do better. You cannot say that for other religions who:

Continue to get involved in politics;

Lie to the IRS about not doing so in order to get their non-profit status;

Avoids paying taxes on retail sales within the church;

Allows immorality to creep into the church;

Immortalizes their founders through the observance of a birthday, death, and/or anniversary of the founding of the church;

Places a pictures of the founders in all their churches, so that all can see and pay obeisance;

Gives tacit approval to the Theory of Evolution; and

Doesn’t teach their followers to preach and teach the Bible, as Christ instructed.

So why do you ask? Are you looking to learn something useful to your life, or is it just to collect a few more anti-witness comments?

Talk about obsessive. You must be in a real panic they may be right.

This kind of thing is getting old fast, so I this will be the last night I will be checking these. I have better things to be doing, like building a time out device for parents of young children, and a taxi cab that will travel sideways as well as forward and backward, using ball tires and maglev propulsion
