The core of any bike is it's frame. However, start by collecting the parts that you would like - Engine, forks, wheels and tank. Now you know what engine and style you are after, make the frame. Typically, this is achieved by welding steel tubing together. The trick is to make sure that the frame is not curved. String, pulled taught, running along the centre, is a traditional trick for helping with this, but unless you are used to welding, I would buy an off the shelf frame.

The next job is to assemble the parts around the frame, having built in your wiring loom.

For ideas and tips, try these two magazines (web pages)

BSH (Back Street Heroes) for US custom type
Street Fighter (For mutant race type).

The easiest method though, is to buy a bike and then customize it.

P.S. This is the cycling section.

P.P.S for ideas you might want to go to the Peterborough BMF Rally, or Tail End Rally in Sept.
