Feed it. Make "found" posters. Check the lost and found in your local paper. If that doesn't work out and you can't keep it, try to find it another home or take it to a no-kill shelter.

You should try and find it's owners. You could put posters up. You could check websites and see if anyone is missing one. You could put your own message on these websites that you have found a cat. You could take it to a vet and they can scan it if it has been microchipped. This is done for free. The only problem is if the cat isn't microchipped they will send it to the pound where the cat will have the maximum of a week to be adopted before being put down. Otheriwse once you have tried to find the owners you could keep it or find it a good home.

If you choose not to keep the cat, you can call your local animal shelter and they will try to find it a good home. There are many places you can also contact if you don't feel good about calling the shelter. Search Best Friends and ASPCA on Google for their websites. They are animal lovers and will help you decide what is best for the cat.
I have 5 cats at home and love them as pets. Best of luck to you with your decision. Hope this helps!

Give it bath. Feed and water it. Buy it a Catnip toy. Run an ad in the paper and watch for lost cat posters and in the paper "lost and found".
If all else fails, do like my sister and keep it. She has dogs and cats that people not want she has taken in.

You should call local Humane Societies, etc, because someone may have lost a pet and is trying to find it. You should put up posters on telephone poles, etc, as that may reach their owner.

Ask a parent if you can watch the pet and take care of it until you find the owners. Give the cat water and food. And lots of love!

Take a pic of the cat and post it around your neighborhood with your contact info. If nothing happens after awhile and if you decide to keep the cat take it to the Vet immediately. Fleas, disease, etc.

advertise at the vet that you've found it as well as in any free paper, put up posters, like you would want people to if they had found your cat. Include contact details, etc.

You should feed it and post "found" papers around. And in 2 weeks if no one claims take it to a shelter.

Beer batter, deep fry...

Seriously... try calling your local radio station, and see if the DJ will let you put out a request over the air. Maybe the owner's friend is listening.
