They all freak me out, but when I worked at a hotel there was one that would really tick me off.

Jews would call down to the front desk to have a porter come up to turn on a light. I swear. That's all there is to it. Apparently there's something in Jewish scripture or some other book where it says god doesn't want people to work or make fires on the sabbath. So some Jews today won't turn on a light. They'll use a phone, they'll make someone else turn it on and then they'll use the light, but something in their religion forbids them from flipping a switch. How stupid is that?

Believe what you want to, no matter how weird, but keep it to yourself. There is absolutely no reason why your "belief" should inconvenience anyone else.

I don't think I am easily freaked by means of religions, not occults.

The only odd ritual I have seen by any "religious sect" is how the Shakers had their dance where they were very orchestrated and shook as they moved... odd.

I have been to many other churches that are more mainstream like Catholic and Pentecostal (must add that I have went to many services... even in hillbilly country and there are NO snakes here, speaking in tongues is not freaky it IS real)... none of that is freaky to me... So , What freaked you??? Those who do not understand the power God possesses are easy to become freaked.

Like Kallan, I just got a little weirded-out, observing a bunch of charismatic "believers" get all babbling and weepy and arms-in-the-air.

I mean, if that's what gets them off spiritually, fine, but I don't think that such outward shows of "fervency" are any measure of one's beliefs or sincerity.

If God is omniscient and omnipresent, then he knows what you're thinking, and has little need for such flamboyant displays.

Circumcision (male or female) is sort of a sick ritual if you think about it. Why religious nuts get it in their head to cut up a person's genitals I do not know...it's probably because they have a bunch of pent-up sexual cravings.

It has to be one of those weird eastern things where you pierce your flesh with long, sharpened spikes, yet don't bleed, even when you suspend yourself by them from wires. Ew. Ouch. Ouch. I think it's some form of hinduism.

Growing up Catholic kind of inures you to being freaked out IN church. But we did have this Polish Priest when I was a kid who talked like Count Dracula and it always scared me when he said, "DIS IS DA COOP OV MY BLOOOOOOD. DRINK IT IN MEMORY OF ME, BWAAAAAAHHHHHH HAAAAHHHH HAAAAAH HAAAAAAA."
