In olden times when people had large families they had them so they could help around the farm or ranch. Now days large families are few and far rarer than int those days. To begin with child birth is hard on a woman's body and it makes them old before their time. If you see movies about olden times, especially the cowboy ones there is seldom a woman or the mother at home, All of the females in them are the daughters, or the young girls in the saloons.
There are exceptions to the rules of course. My Dad was the youngest of 11, my grandmother died at 92,so she was one of those who was able to live a long and full life.
I would suggest no more than 4, unless you have lots of money, education costs alone will bend most bank accounts

Deciding whether any number of kids is too many is best left up to you and your partner after you have looked at your financial resources and evaluated your mental, physical, and spiritual health. First of all, you need to be in a stable relationship with a means to support your growing brood should one of you die or become incapacitated.
Generally, large families work best in rural areas where the cost-of-living is not as expensive as in the city. It also helps to already have a large extended family nearby as a support system. You also need to ask yourselves, "What do I hope to help my children to achieve in life?" If your answer begins with a college education, a really large family isn't a good idea. Children in large families don't lack for companionship, but they sometimes miss out on the perks that children from small families take for granted.
Some religious denominations, such as the Latter-Day-Saints, believe it is a member's religious duty to have as many children as they can. During the late 1970s, however, the ecology movement promoted Zero Population Growth, meaning a man and woman should restrict the number of children they should have to 2, thus replacing themselves but not harming the environment.

You should have as many children as is perfect for YOU and your husband. It is nobody's business to say you should have a certain amount, or not have a certain amount. If you are completely honest with yourself about fiancially being able to provide all their NEEDS, are able to provide a loving, nurturing environment, and have the space, then it is your decision as to how many children you have. I find it interesting that so many people, especially those who have chosen to have just one or two become defensive when others who are financially able to and WANT more children do!

Personally, I would never want that many! And most families can't afford that many children.
It seems like it would be a lot of strain on a woman's body. But if you are healthy, happy, able, and have the means to do it, then who am I to judge?

That's the way you become a Brady Bunch.
Plus some.
But sure, if you want to go into labor 10 times...go right on ahead. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy on your body at all. Ouch.
