I have short wavy hair, just covering the top half of my ears.?

But what i am really concerned about is that my nech has a wave, when it gets longer would it tend to stretch out more and not have a gigantic flib in the back, I plan on growing my neck hair to the very top of my back. My hair is 2 1/2 inches right now.
