I wouldn't recommend a soft food for a puppy, especially not one that is a toy breed, as Yorkies are, because toy breeds' teeth are more crowded in the jaw and more prone to decay and feeding a soft food can cause this process to happen even faster.
HOWEVER. If you are really determined to feed your dog a soft food, read the ingredients on the cans carefully before making your choice. Taste isn't always an indicator of quality, bear that in mind. Just because your dog likes the taste and likes to eat it doesn't mean it is good for her. I recommend Innova, Innova EVO, Wellness, Natural Balance or Eagle Pack.

Your yorkie definitely should not be eating large breed puppy food. It's designed to help a large breed puppy build the essential muscle and bone mass during the puppy's first year of life. A large breed puppy will grow much more and at a much great speed then a small breed. A small breed puppy food is designed for a small breed who can be susceptible to hypoglycemia. Feed the puppies seperate and after the puppies have eaten take up any uneaten portions to guarantee that the yorkie doesn't get any more of the large puppy's food.

Must say I agree with greeneyedhawk. My vet always says 'avoid tin food like the plague!' It can be the cause of many general bowel upsets, particularly in small breeds like Yorkies. Also, you never really know what goes in to these soft foods unless they are of the 'natural' range like Denes or the ones mentioned by the above answerer.
You would be far better off giving your Yorkie lean white meat such as chicken. You can also give some of the excellent dry varieties on the market today such as Royal Canin or Burns. I gave up all tinned/soft food for my dogs (and cats!) years ago and we have had far less digestive problems and sickness.
Ask your vet and then make up your mind. Best of luck, and I hope your Yorkie will be as happy and healthy as mine are!

People are probably going to yell at me for this for some reason or another, but my yorkie loved pedigree canned food. One can was enough to feed my 8 month old yorkie for 4 meals and the cans are only 59 cents per can.

My guys were getting a bit of Pedigree canned food with gravy on top of their kibble until a few months ago. When all the recalls started, I switched to cooking up a potful of "dog stew" with hamburger, brown rice, a bit of chopped liver and some chopped veggies (no onions) all simmered together. They get a couple of scoops over their kibble for supper.

Please keep on the hard food it does help reduce the tarter and gum disease in dogs. Treats should be fed seperate from their food. If you do not think your baby is eating enough talk to a vet to get ideas for a food he might like better. I have 3 chihuahuas and I went through 4 foods before I found the one that my finicky eater likes.

we feed our full pedegree Choc lab retriever on it, she loves it, made by pedegree chum, but it's the best one for pups and vets recomend it if they have a delicate tummy, if that's expensive for you the pedegree chum puppy food is the next best thing
