Cod liver oil is good for your joints.

Nope, the only thing out there that is thought to help is chondroiton sulfate which may help with the cartilege plyability and stability. There is actually no oil in your synovial fluid and spaces, it is closer to the consistency of plasma. Drinking ample water is the best way to be sure that your joints are hydrated. Cod liver oil in studies has been proven to do nothing but make your breath smell horrible:)

the only fats that "oil" your joints are the omega 3 and 4 so you need to check in which foods they are contained (eg. fish, or enriched eggs, milk etc) all the rest does not work because oils of any kind do not contain omega 3, 4

The phrase is "old wive's tale" and it's not even that. It's just plain ludicrous.

Fatty foods clog your blood vessels. Synovial fluid lubricates the joints.

Certain oils and unsaturated fats can help your joints, such as cod liver oil, however animal fats are not that good and just clog arteries and cause heart attacks and strokes if eaten to excess.

Wive's tale though it is, there is just a little nugget of truth. Some essential vitamins are only made available to the body through oil/fat. A completely fat free diet would therefore be bad for you.
