She might have a skin condition. My dog does the same thing. I tried giving my dog a warm bath with special skin dog soap. It seemed to help a little bit.
If that doen't work, or it gets worse, she should go to the vet.

I also have a basset hound that shed. This is the time of year that they shed there winter coat. I brush her everyday, and that seems to keep it from covering my house. But I have another basset hound that hardly sheds at all, so I think it must be the litter. Also watch for signs of flea because our basset's hard starting falling out due to bad flea so check it out and take him to the vet if you think it is skin condition other than just shedding

It may be malnutrition weakening her hair. This can happen to people too. I'm sure it's nothing that you knew you were doing, but check with your vet with what dog food to use, or extra supplements that will help. If you haven't been brushing her, this is very important as well. Get a good brush that is the right type for her fur and brush her as often as possible. If you don't, the hair will just build up and fall off in clumps.
Good luck!

They shed a lot, especially when the weather starts to warm up. Unless you notice bald spots, this is normal.

She is probably shedding her winter coat, getting ready for warmer weather. As long as she is not having bald spots and sores she is probably ok. If she is take her to the vet.

There are several possibilities, it could be a food allergy. It could also be a parasite, such as mange. You would be best to take her for a checkup.
BTW, my son has a basset hound puppy named Walter.

it could be due to the weather. but if it's CHUNKS with bald spots, it could be a diet issue. or a skin irritation. have you gone somewhere or any plants that she's rubbed up against?
take her to the vet or the groomer. see if they can see what it is exactly.

She needs to see a vet for a skin scraping for mites and fungus. It needs to be done right away. It would be cruel to wait. Those are the two main reasons for that amount of hair loss. I would assume from your description it is a fungus.
