~~~ Hi Y.S.D ! I hate to admit this BUTT!! I am an extremely picky eater. I hate alot of stuff especially vegatables. So when I go to restaurants I usually choose something that I already know I like and what they're made with. If I am in a wreckless mood and decide to try something new I will interrogate the waiter/waitress as to what the item consists of. If they mention mushrooms or something else unacceptable I will either tell them I want mine plain or change my mind and go with an old favorite. Chicken fried steak is usually safe since they can't hide disgusting things in it. BUTT!! even before I order that, I ask the server if they personally have tried it and if it was good. I also ask questions about the cook. No, I am not anal! jEst careful. It doesn't hurt to ask,and I've found that the waitresses/waiters are usually truthful. So, if you ever eat out with me be prepared for a long ordering process. I leave good tips for all the trouble I cause. lol! ~~~
I'll try anything once, and twice if I like it. ;)
I just started working as a Hostess in the nutrition dept of a hospital a couple months ago, and all weird new foods and flavors have opened up on top of the other weird stuff I go for, like BBQed eel. Last night a girl I work with and I tried Pro-Stat, something we mix into milkshakes for people who aren't getting enough protein. Bleugh, tasted kinda like cherry cough syrup.
Apparently, the next items I'm up to try is HydroLyte and thickened tea, what we give to people on thickened liquid diets. Wish me luck, lol.
that really depends, if i am in an expensive restaurant, i tend to choose the food i always get...to be on the safe side so my husband always said i am not adventurous with food. but if someone i am close with (and i must know their taste bud) tell me something else on the menu is good, i have no problem of trying it out
I'm a monster for trying new and different foods. I've traveled internationally, and always enjoyed being invited into homes and eat their cuisine. And believe me I have had some unusual fare in comparision as to what you would find in the US. You name it, and I have probably eaten it, if the other people ate it too!
I wish I could do it all again. Alligator to zebra. grubs to grasshoppers. Ants to, well you get the idea. I did not like elephant chitterlings. (chitlins)
Good Q, Dawgy!
Others might well think so because I have a distinctive style and I combine divergent elements my way. I'm sure this might appear adventurous to some.
But aside from being a little eclectic my shopping list isn't very different from many others.
You Bet! I love trying new foods. If I don't know what it is, I will ask and also ask how it's prepared and what additional ingredients are added. If I totally hate it....I won't order it again, but I have found many foods that were once "new" to me that have become favorites.
Life is a school, you have to be up for all the adventures. Try it, you might like it!!
To taste a variety of foods, I like to go to the big festivals with lots of kiosks of different food. :) :)
Since I have traveled to many places and have friends from these cultures, I like to try different foods. I will not eat cavier or black eggs though.
