Yes, medical people deploy, too.

It's the reason that if you enlist with a child, you sign paperwork stating that if you're deployed, you have someone who can take care of the child in your absence.

If BOTH of you are in, then the deployments will probably run one at a time while the other is home with the child. All military people deploy if they're in the service for any significant length of time.

yes, you will both be deployed.

consider this: if you are married, only one can go active, the other can only go reserves because there is a child.

if you are NOT married, the parent with custody cannot join at all.

Nurses are Officers. lab Techs are Enlsited. Possible issues with Fraternization, although with you being able to prove a prior relationship, all you can expect is to NOT be stationed at the same location. you cannot be in each other's direct chain of command.

You can AND WILL stand a chance of being deployed at the same time, married or not. happens all the time.

To be an RN in the military you will probably have to go to OCS. RN is an officer position. Usually military couples are not deployed at the same time. But it is not impossible!!! additionally, you will have to sign many papers that specify who the legal guardian will be in the case that you both are deployed.

Having one parent in the military is hard enough... none the less two. I would say rather then enlist, work at a military hospital or a hospital close to where your husband would be stationed. That is what would truly be best for your son. Good luck.

Chances are, at least one of you will deploy, and they will do some string-pulling to make sure one is home to take care of the kid, but you may be handing him off to your husband as he walks in and you walk out.
