Pray. I wake up with my mind on Jesus and go to bed with my mind on Jesus. When your mind is stayed on the Lord he keeps you from falling. You have to understand that we also war against not flesh and blood but of princes and principalities of the air "spiritual wickedness in high places". When you do not keep yourself prayed up, when you do not praise the Lord through out the day and keep Jesus and the cross on your mind all day you open your self up to spiritual wickedness to creep in the next thing you know your in your flesh doing that which is wrong. Keeping what Christ did on the cross fresh in your mind is something you can do
Kind David Danced before God with all his might, when you look at the definition of might he was dancing with his all before God, he did that how many times a day? He also said 7 times a day do I praise thee, 2 chronicles says " to stand every morning and give thanks to the Lord and likwise at even"
How I stay in the spirit is,
Every morning on my way to work I thank God that he woke me up and again had mercy on me and I pray; if I get to work early I read a psalm. On my lunch I read the word. through out the day I just utter a praise God or Thank you Jesus for being with me and getting me through the day..
when I get home I have bible study with my kid. I devote an hour a day if i'm not doing wifey/mom duties to prayer and then worshiping God. I may lay in bed before I sleep and sing songs. I try to set an atmosphere around myself and my home that is Jesus and spirit Filled so that spiritual wickedness can't creep in.
Jam 1:12 Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Jam 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jam 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Jam 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Eph 5:15 ¶ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is].
Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

It's called temptation my friend. It's what happens even more so to those of us who are strong Christians. Satan can't stand when we are faithful to God and follow his teachings. He does everything in his power to make us go in the opposite direction. The only thing you can do is pray even harder when you don't feel like it. Same as in a committed relationship with a husband or wife. Just because you're not feeling like loving the person at that moment does not mean that you don't keep the committment you made to them. True love means choosing to love someone (God) even when you don't feel the love.
When temptation rears it's ugly head reply with prayer. Have a Bible verse posted in the areas you tend to be when the temptation happens most. A verse that will remind you what God has done for you and will continue to do for you as long as you let him. He will help you through these times if only you let him. Just give the temptation over to him and he will take care of you. God Bless you!!

I fully understand and sympathize with your position. I have found in my journey that I have a great many weaknesses. The important thing is that my sin debt has already been paid and God understands that we are weak. This being said, it does not give us a clean slate to do whatever we want as you well know.
My advise to you is two-fold and can be supported by the Bible. First, prayer is extremely powerful. Through prayer, you keep your eyes on God and HIs Son, Jesus Christ, and Jesus's sacrifice on the Cross. Through the instruction of the Holy Spirit during prayer you can gain strength to battle Satan's empty promises. The second advise, fasting, is like the atomic bomb to temptation and evil. Fasting in conjunction with prayer can greatly help a person to stay faithful. A great book to help you with this is The Hidden Power of Prayer and Fasting BY MAHESH CHAVDA.

Try to focus on your personal relationship with God instead of the do's and don'ts of a religion. I'm not saying that religions are necessarily bad but the conflicts between the various ones do have an impact on the strength of your beliefs. In otherwords, put God first and trust in Him as He walks with you every day. All of us have days when our natural selves want to have a field day and do something that we know that God would not approve of but if you are walking closely with Him all the time in every phase of your life...work, school, relationships etc., the time will come when it is easy to say no most of the time.

I have the same problems (except for the porn) but I just answered a question to show me that we have the RIGHT religion. The question was "Christians: other religions said they do not know the truth. Why can't you?" If we're the only ones without doubts what does that tell you??

It sounds like you've been convinced you have a "sinful nature." I gave up on that stuff over 40 years ago and just try to be a good human being now. It beats the hell out of those self inposed gulit trips and self loathing.

Read the book, The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren. It is important to know that God loves you regardless of your short comings. His greatest followers all had vices.

I can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep your faith living and active. By going to church, by being immersed in His word, daily if you can. Having a good prayer life. The enemy is encroaching on us, more and more, and will be pressing in the closer we get to the return of Christ. It is our safeguard that we keep ourselves close to God. And how is this accomplished? By being in His word, and in prayer.
I understand the things you are saying. I stumble, too. I know when I keep Him foremost, when I put Him first in my day, when I seek His word and pray, I am secure in knowing that He will protect me.
It is so important to daily look to Him. I pray that God hold you close and keep you on the path closest to Him, always.

What I would suggest is to stay in the company of good people. People who always do the right things. I have a bunch of friends who are, I might say, righteous people. I wouldn't do anything demeaning in front of them, because I wouldn't want to ruin my reputation in front of them. So I automatically correct myself, and I avoid from slipping down that slippery slope that leads to rock bottom.

I guess it just takes self control. force yourself not to revert back, even measures like punishing yourself for each sin. you don't want to be in and out too much or you'll end up like salt that's lost its saltiness, and you know what happens to it. I guess you should try little steps. get a self-help book or two...
God Bless!
