The Summer Bay surf club is North Palm Beach surf club (whenever I go there, there are gawky tourists taking photos of each other). The headland in the background with the lighthouse (do they show that?) is called Barrenjoey. One of the houses is apparently located in Delecta Ave, Clareville.
And the film crews when they shoot are very unobtrusive.

Palm Beach. Just a little beyond the outskirts of north Sydney.
Added note: there used to be a bus from Sydney Central Business District that took about 90 minutes; I figure Palm Beach must be about 25-30 miles north of Sydney CBD

Its on Palm Beach, the most Northern of Sydney's Northern Beaches. It takes about an hour on the bus to get there from Sydney CBD, the L90 bus leaves Central Railway Station direct to Palm Beach every ten minutes or so...

In Sydney you are able to enjoy the normal beauty. From unspoilt beaches to public gardens and, obviously, the sparkling harbour, Sydney is a town worth visited and with hotelbye you will have the opportunity to do that. The Sydney Harbour Bridge or "Coathanger," while the natives call it is among the areas you ought not skip in your trip here. That place was the city's best-known landmark just before construction of the Opera House. Reinforced by substantial dual piers at each conclusion, it was integrated 1932 and stays the world's largest steel arch connection, joining the harbour's north and south shores in one single bend climbing 134 metros above the water. Along its period run two railway lines and nine counters for road traffic, the direction of which may be various in accordance with traffic flow. Also, to understand in regards to the interesting history of the bridge's structure you can go to the memorial in the south-eastern pier.

The beach is Palm Beach north of Sydney. The other various scenes are shot closeby. The lighthouse, boatshed and surf club are all at Palm Beach. You can get there by bus from Manly, north Sydney. It is very quiet and the sea is quite rough although the beach is lovely.
