Well not an animal per se, I identify with fish because they both like to swim with the school and go off on their own and are happy either way.

Honestly, I am sure I have the most unique animal ever chosen as an inspiration.
The Rat. Yes, as in the thing you'll find in Chicago.
Why? Rat's are very good at being overlooked, and sometimes people will ignore them until they become a major problem. They are always holding on to life, even though they live in the gutter.

The wolf. They are intelligent, affectionate, and highly attuned to their surroundings. I also have a pack or tribal mentality regarding family. They are also practical, flexible, and adaptable.
Some are loners and roam independently, and some belong to packs. They are territorial and can be deadly when threatened (or hungry). But they are also sweet and affectionate to each other, they mate for life, they take care of their young, they express their feelings.

Any cat but especially the tiger, they are elegant, powerful, graceful, dangerous, relatively solitary, ect.
