Is it a sin, or isn’t it? What is your opinion on whether a person is born that way or whether they choose the behavior?
The way I understand it is that if they claim that God made them that way then Biblically God is contradicting himself; creating them a way he says in his word not to be…it would be like setting a plate full of warm cookies on a table and telling a child “Don’t eat them”. Yet, I hear so many homosexuals claiming to be Christian and saying God made them that way. Are they suggesting God makes mistakes? Or that God is unjust? Or are they simply omitting scriptures? It is my belief that we are all born into a world of sin, and we are all effected by it in different ways. Where one person might have the desire to sin by stealing, or lying, or adultery…gay people have the desire to sin sexually with someone of the same gender. So many of them claim that they didn’t choose to be gay…I find that statement to be incorrect, they might not have chosen to have the desires, but they did choose to have sex with someone of the same gender…which means they CHOSE to be gay. There is no such thing as a homosexual, only people with homosexual desires. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? My sister is gay so I am not homophobic, I am friends with her and her girlfriend, but I cannot support their lifestyle or a marriage between them. *Waits for Abetterfate to find this question and say something particularly nasty*…

Sweetie,
If that were true I wouldn't find answers from you at almost every question I visit mocking my opnions and answers. Loch Ness monster anyone? You don't agree, fine, you don't have to be a b*tch about it. Anyone who goes to my other answers can see that you look through my answers and questions just so you can cause drama and write b*tchy, argumenative comments. How did you find this one? Given the fact that it was asked 23 hours ago and you answered it 1 hour ago...it wasn't on any of the pages where you could have found it...you obviously checked out my profile to find it. So who's more interested in who? You don't like my opinion? Stop looking at my profile, stop answering my questions, and delete my name from your memory ;oP

Kedar,
From my faiths perspective I am very well informed on the subject and I am by no means humiliating myself. This is what my faith and Bible says and I believe it. I believe the Bible is the infalliable word of God and I think what God thinks. So it really doesn't matter what means you and other homosexuals have created to justify yourselves...God says it is wrong; end of story. And as for Abetterfate...if she wants people to have a better attitude towards her, perhaps she needs to be more respectful, the way her religion (Buddhism) tells her to be. Before you say the same to me, my religion calls me to love all people, but not to be a doormat when they are rude, insulting, and talking against the Lord.

It is a sin, as plainly written in the bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Homosexuality is as a lot of an dependancy as Heterosexuality. Neither are honestly elements in sexual additions, which can be truly and in most cases non-orientated. Influences are interior, and the gorgeous approaches of the frame is not the identical as medications and alcohol. For starters, the physically chemical compounds which are a side of arousal don't seem to be ingested, however produced in a single's frame and aren't any one-of-a-kind than yours or mine. They are not homosexual molecules, and ours are not instantly ones neither. Pedophiles do have an obstacle, however it is on the whole one-of-a-kind than that arousal via the identical intercourse. Usually, disorders underlie pedophilia; and, no, the identical disorders are broadly absent from homosexuality. Pedophilia perhaps average for a few, however the change among that and homosexuality is that pedophiles goal humans who do not have the heritage, without doubt, to make that selection. Other homosexuals would, due to the fact it spans the spectrum of age. Zoophilia is a entire one-of-a-kind set of disorders and disorders. Really, in the event you research homosexuality, it is in a similar way average to heterosexuality. Some analogies would cross to this point to mention it is the albino phenotype of human sexuality: Few humans are born albino, however it is average.

I'm a Christian I also happen to be gay.
Or
I'm gay and I happen to be a Christian.
I also happen to be a male.
I also happen to be English.
I also happen to be 28 (for the time being...)
I also happen to work underground. (That almost happens to make me a hobbit)
I don't know if God made me any of those things. Some it it is just a happenchance of where I was born. Should I be proud of being English/British? It's where my parents had sex and I happened to be born.
Even my faith is a bit of a random happening. Just because I happen to have been born in the UK in the family I was I happen to have been brought up with a particular set of values.
It all depends on how closely you feel God (whatever that means?!) takes an interest in your day to day life.
Medieval folk believed that their day to day life was literally a personal struggle between God and the Devil. We live in an age of enlightenment, the age of reason, the age of postmodernity.
Some people believe that the bible is literally the inerrant word of God. Some people believe that the bible is the words of God filtered through a particular group of people. Others believe that the bible is a useful set of stories to help understand the passionate nature of belief. Some see the bible as a bit of a stumbling block to belief.
Can God "contradict himself"? All depends on your view of God. Some people like God to be full of emotions, angry, happy, sad, wrathful etc. Some people feel that emotions are a human condition and that to reduce or limit God to human emotions is dangerous and limiting. Surely God is beyond mere human emotion?! Can God be contradictory, sure but does that contradictory nature frighten you or cause your own faith to shudder?
I'm not sure your warm cookies analogy works. It's a bit more like a musician being told that they can study the skills of playing a piano but never actually play. That's certainly how I felt whenever I was told that being gay/homosexual was "unnatural" within a church setting.
I'm also unsure about your "world of sin" argument. If you're working from your inerrant Bible worldview then you'll know that Paul suggests that the world is groaning from the symptoms of the fall. It's not perfect but it's certainly not a "world of sin" as that suggests the world was created by Sin and not God.
I'm also deeply offended every time someone says "I can't be homophobic my sister/brother/mother/husband/dog is Gay" or says "Some of my best friends are gay". So what?! Some of my best friends are straight. You win a gold star for being friends with gay people. You get to say you're very cosmopolitan. Being homophobic isn't about being gay or straight or Christian or atheist- it's about homophobia. Generally Homophobia is the irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. It can also mean hatred, hostility, or disapproval of homosexual people, sexual behavior, or cultures, and is generally used to insinuate bigotry. The term homophobic means "prejudiced against homosexual people," and a person who is homophobic is a homophobe.
(Confused? I certainly was by the stream of ideas knocking against each other)

It is not a sin. People like to intimidate and control others through fear-mongering. What about the sins of adultery and divorce? The divorce rate amongst born-again Christians is alarmingly high; yet, these "sins" are OK. I know of several Christian couples who have divorced and remarried, with the excuse, "God knows the heart." Here is a Baptist site that clearly discusses that.
But, it is always easy to pick on someone else's life, and homosexuality is a favourite target.

I'm a Christian, and I do not believe that homosexuality is wrong. I do see where man and woman were created to be companions for one another, but I've never come across the "don't be gay or you're going to hell" part of the Bible. Come to think of it, it doesn't explicitly say that, does it? Isn't that an extrapolation of "God made man. God made woman. They procreate" part? I believe that if God creates all -- even homosexuals -- then it can't be so awful, right? I can't imagine that homosexuals have a choice in respect to whom they are attracted (I didn't choose to be straight), so God made them that way.
I can't honestly think of citing the creation scripture and leaving out the "love everyone" that is supposedly one of the most important parts! If love everyone is one of the main Christian lessons, then let's do that.
Also, I think it is easier for me to accept (and even embrace) friends and aquaintences that are homosexual because I'm younger (21). I think it is becoming more accepted in general to be homosexual.

I'm a Christian and I just had a close friend come out to me so I've been thinking about this a lot lately. He says the same thing that he is born that way. The way I see it is that it doesn't seem like a lot of people would want to "chose" homosexuality seeing the social stigmas we have and the fact that you can't have a traditional family like you were raised with. At the same time I agree that you choose your actions. Is it fair to tell someone to go against their desires? The way I see it is like that verse when people are asking Jesus about the blind man and if he is blind because of his own sins or the sins of his parents and Jesus replies "Neither. It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him." (John chapter 9, not sure about verses).
Just because something isn't perfect doesn't mean God made a mistake. People have predispositions to become alcoholics, be aggressive/violent, etc. I don't think they are bad people, and obviously God loves them. God makes it clear in the Bible that homosexuality is wrong. But there is good that can be made out of sin, and that is beautiful. I think homosexuals have an opportunity to have more compassion, humility etc as we all do when we are tempted and have the opportunity to overcome that temptation.
I feel the reason there are problems in the world is often so that we have an opportunity to fix them, deal with them, and broaden our love and understanding so that "the works of God might be made manifest" through all people including people that have homosexual desires or don't.
Of course, I have to believe that regardless of whether a person is "born that way" or not, that change is possible, because otherwise that seems unfair. But I never know the severity or depth of someone's story so how can I judge?
That's how I feel right now and my understanding could evolve and change. If you get this whole thing figured out, I'd like to know. I don't really understand a lot of it.

I find that being against homosexuality is ridiculous. Imagine being born, growing up, discovering that you're gay, and then all of the sudden most of the world's people hate you! People can't control who they're attracted to, and just because some people are attracted to the same gender as themselves doesn't mean that they should be hated by everyone. They're just different. This goes to show how incredibly stupid human beings are.

Honey, if you aren't homosexual they you can never really know what it's like to grow up gay. It comes from within, just like my learning that I love flowers. And after a few years of trying to convince myself otherwise, I finally learned that God made me this way. God is perfect, and I am in His/Her likeness, so I am prefect. Perfectly Gay.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

We now know without a shadow of a doubt that sexuality is largely determined before birth. How I see it discriminating against these people is not much better than the racists of the 50s and 60s, wasn't that long ago, but it is still sad that so much of this type of behavior is still going on. Look at the identical twin studies of the early 90s for crying out loud, they are peer reviewed. I'm a straight man though it really grinds my gears to see hateful acts towards others.
