Whatever floats your boat! There is wisdom in staying fit....

Think of it like this... Everything is a gamble when it comes to health, because your body is basically programmed to behave a certain way, an then your ever changing environment (planet Earth) can influence and change those intentions. You ae going to die, but you don't know when or even why most of the time. Just like you know a baseball team will win the World Series this year, but you just dont know which one. Just do what you can to put the odds of survival in your favor. Drinking, smoking, doing drugs, being overweight, not exercising living next to radiation and sun bathing have all been shown to increase your chances of dying young. "Increase your chances", not guarantee it. Try to live healthy and stay away from substances that are known to harm you. It may not make a difference in the long run, but why take the chance?

There's a difference between someone who is fit and how they age. Yes, we all die. But a fit person who is sixty is a vastly different being than a sickly one.

I am coming on Sixty, and I'm healthy. It couldn't be genes... people in my family don't generally age well. I attribute it to my diet, love of physical activity and lack of serious bad habits (I don't smoke, drink in excess or rely on over the counter drugs)...

I may die next week, but right now I could go out and play Frisbee with a teenager and do just fine.

That could not be said of many sixty year olds who eat badly, smoke and don't exercise.

Almost good advice...

Physical fitness is minor compared to harmonious thinking and making peace with death. However, when people are at one with themselves and the world, they tend to be nicer to themselves, enjoy healthy living and therefore exercise, eat right and sleep well.

A person at peace with death doesn't exercise for tomorrow's sake but for the enjoyment of right now. That person will eat well and enjoy healthy food and sleep wonderfully at night.

People resisting death and the reality of life are the ones who have eating disorders, avoid exercise and can't sleep or have sex without medicine. If your mind is healthy, your body will follow along and it won't seem like a burdan to you.

But...peaceful life or not...we all die.

The young Italian mafia members had a saying;`Live fast, die young and have a good looking corpse` and some of them actually lived by this inept maxim.

When did you speak to someone from beyond the grave, and why would you ask him or her about food or exercise?

*lol* from beyond the grave? While you live, it's better to live feeling well, than not. And I have been in both places!

Not really, because staying fit and stuff will not only prolong your life, but it'll mean less pain and suffering (literally) when you're getting older.

But hey, if you LIKE kidney stones...

"It is appointed once for men to die, and after that, the judgment."
"Physical exercise profiteth little."

I don't know if it's good advice, but it is a true statement.
