I'm a Christian who actively shares the gospel. I never argue with people, and try not to offend them.
Now, if someone is being a jerk, I'll push back, but most of the time it's an exercise in futility.
If they are antagonizing you, it's because they've become temporarily more concerned with winning an argument than with "converting" you.

I think alot of them mean well in saying they will pray for you, because they desperately want to see you saved, but for many this is going about it in the wrong way. Conversion or salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit when a person's heart is open to Him, and not dependant upon someone's prayers. When I converted I knew no Christians and Christians didn't know me. No one prayed for me to convert... I can see how people saying they will pray for you (to convert) can seem controlling. I actually applaud you for even considering asking a christian for their reasonings when you feel controlled like that. Anyway, G-d is not about control or manipulation. He will not take away your free will because if you are not totally free to choose Him of your own free will, it isn't true love for Him and isn't a true conversion.

When I pray for unbelievers, I do not pray for them to "convert" or to agree with me or anything like that. I pray that God would reveal Himself to them. And then I leave it in God's hands. I really do not know why it bothers some people to have people pray for them. I believe that praying for someone is the ultimate way to show that you really care for that person. There are people that use that line " I'll pray for you" as a way to get people angry or as a way to show off. I think that these people are just immature in the faith and just have some growing up to do.

Hi. We've spoken one on one before and I think your question was aimed at me so allow me the opportunity to justify why I said "I'll pray for you" and no, I'm not trying to convert you. It's the job of the Holy Spirit to convict and prayerfully turn your heart towards Christ.
I pray for you to find guidance during this trial you're experiencing in your life. I pray God reveals Himself to you and direct you on the path He wills for your life. I pray for your protection from evil and if you're seeking the truth wholeheartedly, I pray God will reveal the truth to you.
Now not all prayers are answered and not all prayers are answered right away. God is sovereign over all and knows what's best for every single one of us. And I know that I am praying in Gods will because Satan doesn't want you to see/know the truth. But Gods word says, Seek and you shall find, ask and you shall receive, knock and the door will be opened to you. Seek God with your whole heart and He will show up. Not because I said so but because He says so.
Lastly Sweetie God does not take away free will. If He did take it away we'd all be converted instantaneously and there'd be NO confusion on the matter.

What makes you think I want to convert you?
In the Catholic church, that would be a lot of work. I'd have to go to RCIA classes with you every week as your sponsor, devoting a lot of time to the effort. I'd have undertaken a commitment that would last well into your novitiate year and beyond if I were your Godfather.
It is a ton of work. And while I would do it gladly for anyone who wanted me to, its not trivial, and I have better things to do with my time than force people into something which is also a huge commitment for me.
Relax. We aren't zombies trying to eat your brain. I mean it, really.

Listen princess, I'll be prayin' for ya!
I'm just joking, I don't think that it's anyone's "responsibility" to "convert" anyone. It's good that you take the time to make your own choices.
Let them pray for you if they want to, doesn't hurt you any, right? Just takes up their time.

Very few say that and actually mean it as a nice thing...most say it because they know it will upset you...don't give them the satisfaction....a guy told me yesterday that he would pray for me...I sent him a message telling him that was very sweet and I thanked him...if he wants to spend valuable minutes of his life praying for my soul, who am I to stop him?

to me every female is a princess, some dont believe it and we only live up to what we believe.
Jesus says to pray for everyone-so to me I always decide who I should listen to as far as He is concerned He takes priority in my life. People shouldnt antagonize others even if they dont believe in Jesus. Jesus wont take away your free will, yet he can bring people into our life to influence us as to what to believe-yet its our choice. As a Jew I was taught to reject Jesus and salvation too. Now Jesus is my savior and best friend-oh yes Shut up-just kidding I wouldnt tell my worst enemy to shut up-we have a right to express ourself. and I got tears in my eyes for even joking like that. Yet we get what we expect in life-if we look for snakes we find snakes-if we look for Jesus inspite of those that claim to know him, we will find the real Jesus. John 3 easy to believe, David

you may desire to do a splash analyze. you may desire to understand whether you are able to trully stay a Christian existence. you may desire to prefer it. You cant convert to Christianity in basic terms because you prefer to marry this lady. you are able to grow to be a Christian if its some thing you trully believe in. you may desire to believe in God/Jesus, not in basic terms fake so which you would be able to marry this lady. be certain if the Christian existence is a few thing that makes you happy. be certain in case you are able to love God as much as you adore this lady. only then will you recognize if the marriage will artwork. do not do it if God isn't on your heart. Many non-christian adult men/women marry a Christian companion and with time they the two start to believe or they dont. Marriage is approximately respecting the different guy or woman's attitude. do never fake to be a Christian if its not what's on your heart. Be real to your self.
