The Jews and Christians are also forbidden from eating pork. Here is a quote from the Old Testament to that effect: "And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase." Deuteronomy 14:8

Many Christians believe that this verse was directed only at the Jews. But Jesus himself says during the Sermon on the Mount; "Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." Some Christians say that, after a vision by St. Peter, God cleansed all animals and made them fit and lawful for human consumption. If ALL animals are cleansed by Peter's vision, this includes dogs, cats, vultures, and rats: but you just don't see people getting excited about a cat-meat sandwich like they do over barbecued pork or bacon. Others say that it was Paul who rescinded the law forbidding pork to humans, in order to appease the Romans, who enjoyed the taste

Jews dont eat pork or as far as i know. Christians are not supposed to eat pork but they do. They choose what they want to follow and are very selective in what they follow. Oh i dont like this law - lets pretend i didnt see it. Thats the mentality i am afraid to say

Actually, the laws of the Jews were indeed fulfilled upon the death and resurrection of Jesus. New laws took their place, and the new laws were much simpler, and did not include hundreds of do's and don'ts.

Paul's vision served more than one purpose. At the time, Paul did not especially care for the Romans, and Christianity was only being preached to the Jews. This vision happend just as a Roman Centurion wanted to become a Christian.

The Jews of that day thought any Gentile (non-Jew) was not allowed to hear this new Gospel. Their traditions up until then were that they were a separate, holy nation. Even if they lived among other peoples, they did not freely associate with them.

God was showing the Jews that not only all food was now to be permitted, but all people were also permitted to partake of the new Christianity. The Jews had to learn that food was no longer an issue, and that their separateness was no longer needed. Christianity granted much freedom not enjoyed by the Jews under Mosaic Law (the laws given to Moses for the Jews.)

And yes, there are people in the world who do eat meats of many different flavors. Dog and Monkey, for example, are popular in some countries, mostly in Asia and Africa.

I understand, though, that flesh of many meat-eating animals, especially that of the feline family, is somewhat bitter to the taste, and thus not popular as regular fare.

Fulfill he did...The fact is that the law is for those who need the law those who are changed to God's righteousness are in agreement with the law not under the law. Many laws as you call them are shadows of the coming Messiah. Christ did fulfill those laws he did come and he did make clean that which was not clean. We do not worship God in laws and traditions of man but in spirit and truth. We no longer sacrifice animals nor is anything unclean, We no longer practice the laws of the Sabbatha s we have by faith entered Gods Sabbath,
Col 2:
16 Let no man therefore ajudge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

It is made clear both in the gospels and the Book of Acts that gentile Christians are not bound by food laws.

Acts 10:19-22
Acts 15:23-29

Mark 7:18-19

"He said to them, 'Are even you likewise without understanding? Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?' (Thus he declared all foods clean.)"

Christians follow the teachings of Christ. Jews follow the Mosaic Law. So why are you quoting the Mosaic Law to Christians?? Why is it that some people think that anything that happens to be recorded in the Bible is a direct command to Christians, even when such events occurred centuries before Christianity existed!

The new law of the new testament went into effect after Christ's death and resurrection. You are quoting Jewish law. Christians are not jews. Paul did not rescind any order. Nothing in the Bible is there without God's consent.

They don't believe in no real rules, they does what theys wants- And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”. “Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8] BUT - BBQ sauce - makes it alright.

Because the New Testament says it's ok to eat anything, 'give no thought to what you eat' so realistically, that could be feces.

If you think symbolically it's ok to take benefit from someone else's pain then it's probably ok to eat yourself.

The Old Testament is only valid when it is used to oppress gays and force a literal translation of Genesis in schools.
