I have been living in LA for four years. My husband has a great job here, and I am a full time student. I hate this city so much. I hate how expensive it is and I hate how crowded it is. I want to upgrade to a nicer home, but for this I would need to stop going to school and get a full time job. Do you think that is worth it? Or is living in a dump and spending four more years in school better? ANY suggestions for coping with city life would be appreciated!!!!!!!!

Chiero makes some good points. I would say that you should hang in there and get your degree. That can never hurt.

I've found that in life, we may not be able to change the situation, but we CAN change our reaction to it. Like Chiero said, try to get out of town, just for a change of scenery. We get out at least one weekend a year and do some camping. Anything, just so that we get out, and we aren't looking at the same walls, same chores, etc. A short time away gives us the energy we need to keep going at the grind.

Be careful not to get caught up in the greed cycle. Live within your means. Too many people get a better job, then spend even more, so they get further into debt.

Each day, remember to keep your eye on the goal. Remember what all of this it leading towards. Keeps your goals in sight, and the journey is much easier.

If you still can't stand it here, then by all means, move on out. Nobody should be in a place that they hate.

Good luck.

I'm sorry you don't like it here. LA is a love it or hate it kind of town.

Don't underestimate the value of college. It will only serve you well in the long haul.

See if you can upgrade to a better place. You have the luxury of being able to take your time.

Try to get out the city once in a while. We have great open areas, if you can go far afield.

As for crowds, I manage by doing what I can off hours. Like Sunday Matinees at the movies, and leaving extra early to beat traffic.

And try to remember, you could be stuck in the snow instead of sunshine.

It would be to your advantage to stay in school. I know how expensive even a dump can cost. But in 4 years you will be able to move where you want and have a good job to go with it.
