Theaft or attempting theaft.
i actually did this once. this guy i barely knew was taking picures of me and i told him not to but he just ignored me so i took his camera and left. Well, he went and told security (we were at some school event thing at another school) and the cop came and told me it was stealing and I could get in trouble. Well, long story short I told the cop that he was taking pictures of us, and I told him why I took it and he ended up getting in trouble and almost charged for taking pictures when he was delibieratly told not to. hope i helped.

That depends. If they shove it in your face as you are walking along the sidewalk, you have a right to protect yourself from personal injury. If you are in a public place, they have the right to film anything they want to film. If you physically interfere with what they are doing, you may guilty of an assalt or disorderly conduct.
You certainly do not have the right to take their camera or damage it.

In my state, battery and depending on the value of the camera, attempted grand theft from a person using force (Strongarm robbery)...a felony.

If they are videotaping you in a public place they can do so. If you grab their camera and make physical contact with them while doing so, you can be charged with attempted theft and battery.
Dog lover-I promise I did not see your answer until I posted mine!

From what i know if someone is video taping you IN public, lets say at the mall, you cant really do anything.
If they are taping you while you are at your home lets say in the backyard relaxing, then go out and kick their ***.

If you are in a public place, anyone has the right to video tape you. If you unlawfully touch them or any property on their person, you could be charged with misdemeanor Battery.
*edit..... its ok, t-bone... when you (or I) are right, we are right! ;-)
