I heard the same info. I wonder how many of our great media organizations will report on this.
Don't hold your breath...............
A few key points about the new immigration bill:
1) It gives amnesty to known gang members that simply sign a paper saying they will no longer be in a gang.
2) It does not force illegal aliens to assimilate, learn English, pledge allegiance to the United States or become a citizen but it does grant immediate legal status to illegal aliens.
3) There is no guarantee any of the fines will ever be enforced.
4) There is no guarantee that the fence will be built.
5) There is no guarantee that our immigration laws will be enforced going forward.
6) There is no guarantee that there won't be another amnesty bill in the future.
Face it, this bill is awful and we simply do not need it.
We need a double fence along the southern border with military & border patrol securing it. We need to identify all people coming & going through our borders. We need to limit immigration and force those people coming here to become citizens to assimilate into our culture (learn English, pledge allegiance, learn our government & history, etc.).
We do not need a new bill to do this.
We also need to stop granting citizenship to children born on our soil from someone who is not a citizen. This is absolutely ridiculous. Of course, this should apply to all non-citizens regardless of country of origin.
We need term limits in Congress and we need some new leadership across the board to seriously address this important issue.

I think if they want to live here they should go through the same process as every person who comes through Ellis Island! Prove yourself worthy of being an American citizen - and that's a heck of a lot more than being able to jump fences and swim rivers to get here! They should ALL be deported, by whatever means is necessary and the President of the United States should be sent to the NUT HUT for daring to say that people of this country who don't support his asinine bill are wrong! BUTT HEAD!!!

Here's a perfect example.
One of our day porters was an illegal. Trust me, I had no power of hire or fire in this situation, had I, he would never have worked here.
Anyway. He was here for almost five years. He would work for like 18 hours a day. Lived in an apartment with 5 other guys doing the same thing. They sent every penny they made, except enough to eat tortilla's, home. He flat out told me that with the money he's making and saving, he'll be able to build a new home in Mexico and have it paid for. This was his only reason for being here. They love and want to live in Mexico. But to enjoy their homeland, they come here to make the money to do it.

It's funny too - if a citizen gets pulled over for an expired license we will get fined and maybe even have to go to court. If an illegal immigrant gets pulled over for an expired license, they ignore it and the person walks. How strange that legal citizens are being penalized...I thought that double standards like that were illegal.

The 2005 estimate was 12 million - it's GOT to closer to 20+ million by now!
I doubt that most want to become citizens. If they did they would have to pay the fines and start paying taxes. If they are just legally here, with no intention of becoming citizens, they don't pay the $5,000 fines. Why should they want to become citizens, they have to start taking responsibility for their actions?

Good ?. But we must stop this double standard of law enforcement that is being forced on U.S. citizens. All or very few laws need to be enforced. Buckle up, its the law. Deport illegals, its the law!

Not a one should be able to receive the gift of citizenship, it didn't work in 1986 and it will not work now. What a mockery that the boy king and the senator is visiting of the hard working tax payers of the country. The laws that were passed in the 1986 amnesty were a joke. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame me. Even the illegals know that they and their leaders are not only having their way with us but turning the American people into a joke, a joke that will bankrupt us proving welfare to the former illegals

The number the people come up with around here... 00, come on!
It has to be at least 25 -30 of them, easy ;~)
I don't think many do want to be citizens. I think most just want to come here make as much money as they can and go back home. I would just like to see them go home, if they want to come here, do it the legal way.

I would say about less than half. The reasons are because they just want to make their money and go back home when they're old or just enough to build a home in Mexico or wherever they are from. Most of them miss their homes and just want to work. Some that do stay they want establish roots here.
