Request a meeting with your boss and turn in a formal letter of resignation. In the letter detail all that you have gained from the company and your reasons for leaving. Your boss will appreciate the effort to leave on good terms. You should also offer to help train a replacement with the time you have left. (This should help negate any impulse of your employer to send you off as soon as they find a replacement.)
Good Luck!

The only way is face to face, and the sooner and more advance notice you can give the better. Explaining the reason, as to going back to school, and giving allot of notice can only help you in the long run. The possibility exist that they might still want you part time, because of your knowledge, or by not burning bridges and doing things the right way, when you finish school they might have a better position for you. I applaud you for going back to school it is tough, recently graduated myself with a BSBA after being out 30 years. Another option is if they give tuition reimbursement and you can finish online. In any case good luck to you

Well if he/she is a team player, then let him know 2-3 wks ahead of time, and help find solutions for a new replacement.
School is very important, and its not going on to upset them, from dissatisfaction, its about bettering your future.
