The worst pistol I have used is a .22 Walther pistol. It looks cool, but its jamming rate is too high to make it reliable. The best pistols I have fired include the M1911, the HK USP.45, and the HK P7. However, as an old instructer of mine used to say, "the only thing a pistol is good for is fighting your way to a rifle."
The best rifle I have fired is the M14, the FN/FAL, or other 7.62 mm NATO weapons. The Mosin Nagant is quite powerful, but has too hard of a kick in this writer's opinion. I also enjoyed firing any of the 5.56 NATO weapons. They are generally reliable and one can carry a lot of ammunition over the 7.62 types. The AK-47 and AKMS are fine weapons too. There are some Chinese variants of old Soviet SKS style weapons that are not so nice.
The best SMG? There are so many. I liked the MPK and MP5. The Swedish K is nifty. Even the old Sten Gun with a silencer is a fine little weapon. Maybe the MAC.45 was the worst.
There are other weapons out there that one learns to use in Special Forces, but there are so many. Machine guns, AT weapons, mortars, artillery, etc. Your question is rather broad.

The best and most effective weapon I have ever used was a little bit of gas warfare, next morning at breakfast after a double curry session, I single handedly cleared a NAAFI mess hall in record time.
The worst was when I tried the same tactic the following week and followed through, causing me to spend the rest of the day down by the local dhobi stream batting my keck's on a flat rock.
My wife packs a pair of awesome 38s

The nuclear torpedo that was carried by Shackleton aircraft of the RAF in the 1970s must rank as the best one that I have been associated with.
The Blue Steel rocket carried by the V-Bomber force in the late 60s and early 70s was an absolute pig of a thing.
On the whole all weapons are as bad as one another there is no best they are all the worst things that human beings have ever devised. If you don't believe me ask any one who has been injured or the families of those killed by this spawn of the devil.

Best weapons depend on the job to be done, but I do have a worst. The LAW (light antitank weapon). When we did familiarization firing, out of a case of 24 only two actually went down range, and neither hit the target. I believe that item is no longer issued.

SA80... Now half the parts are made by Heckler and Koch it's not actually bad, but when I first used it, it didn't work well in the wet, the dry, the desert, the snow... It would jam in pretty much any circumstance.
Best? 7.62 mm GPMG. Nice gun, very simple, throws out bullets at a good speed and doesn't jam. Easy to clean, too.
A mention should go to the Minigun too... Three hundred bullets gone quicker than you could say 'Minigun.'
Piece of crap to clean afterwards though. Seven f'ing barrels.

Depends on what you're trying to do, and under what circumstances.
George S. Patton claimed many years ago that the M-1 Garand was the "finest battle implement ever devised", and as a soldier and a former Olympic shooter, he should know, but the rifle that he carried in a scabbard on his Jeep was a German K-98 Mauser.

Best 40mm Bofor, fantastic fun! BOOOM! Another Dead Seagull.
Worst would have to be Lee Enfield Personal Defence Wepon (General British Army Assault Rifle) however they had just been made availiable and had a lot of teething problems when I left the forces.

It's been a while, but nothing was more fun than a quad-50.
Worst was a Thompson. Don't know how Dad fought with one.
Would love to spend an hour with a Barrett
