something even though its not what they require. Say they want 25.00 a mo. and i can only send 10.00. Can they do anything? I know once it goes to collections it ends up on your credit also. In return makes Bad credit.

Yes they can.

Anytime you send in less then the minimum amount they can report to the credit bureaus.

They are fully entitled to send your accounts to collection. Hospitals, even though many are non-profits, also need these funds to continue proper operation. They provided you a service, and are entitled to payment for same.

I'd venture they were VERY generous in accepting as little as $25.00 per month. Bit the bullet and find the other $15 each month, if you want them to not report to the credit agency.

it depends on the business you are paying the bill to. Send the $10 per month and they might send you to a pre-collections which is just a company they have to take care of any bills that are 90 or so days past due. but i've been in your boat dozens of times-especially when i was in college and some months i paid only $5! but they never turned me into collections. it used to be illegal for any medical practice to turn it over to collections if you were paying something but i dont know what it is now. I live in the pittsburgh area

No they can't, but make sure you continue to pay at least a little bit even if they don't send a bill because that is where they can get ya if you miss a payment. I have been paying a 2000.00 bill for years at 5 bucks a month and they cant do anything as long as they receive a payment.

I would argue with the hospital and tell them -- that 10 dollars is what you can pay. . .I am in NY -- I was under the impression that as long as you sent SOMETHING!!!! they had to leave you alone. . .
Collection does show up on your credit -- even after the debt has been paid!!
Don't let them do it to you. . .be strong with them . . .it's terrible that is how sick people get treated.
Let me know if there is anything I can do. . .

Have you called the billing office to ask if there is any help you can get on your bills? I filled out an application and they paid my bills down greatly for me. It's worth a try.
