Heat oven to 350 degrees
Lay a row of aspargus on a sheet of aluminum foil.
Sprinkle with olive oil, fresh lemon juice, garlic powder, salt & pepper.
Toss.
Cover with same size sheet of foil and fold & crimp the edges together to make a pouch.
Cook it for 8 minutes or so.
This is really good.

Fresh asparagus is extremely easy to make and is most delicious when prepared simply. I almost always steam mine in the microwave because it's so easy - trim it and put it with just a little water in a microwave-safe dish, cover tightly and cook on high for a few minutes. The most difficult part is figuring out the timing -- you don't want it crunchy but you don't want it limp either. Usually when I start smelling the odor, I know it's time to take it out. Just drain it and sprinkle with some salt and pepper and a little butter.
It's also delicious dressed with olive oil and salt and pepper and roasted in the oven at a pretty high temperature. Also an easy way to prepare it.

Trim tough root ends from asparagus spears, then cut into 2-inch lengths. Place in microwave-safe bowl with a lid. Sprinkle asparagus with kosher salt, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Pour in lemon juice and dot with butter.
Cover with lid and microwave on high power for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir to distribute seasonings. Cook another 2 to 3 minutes until asparagus is tender. Stir once more before serving.
Yield: 4 servings

yes use a shallow baking dish with about a 1/4 a cup water place in the asparagus stocks (sorry you still have to pill them from the tips down) so that none are over lapping cover with Saran wrap and cook for 3 minutes this will give you a steamed asparagus. this also works on the stove with a fry pan just put about 1/2 cup water in the pan bring to a simmer and pop in the asparagus cook till fork tender

I think it is best steamed or grilled.
To steam it, you will need a steamer basket, for either stove top, or microwave use.
Anyway, steam it for about 7-9 minutes and serve it with a cheese sauce.
To make the cheese sauce:
Melt 2 TBS butter in a sauce pan over medium-low heat. Add 2 TBS all-purpose flour, salt and pepper to taste. Stir the flour well, cooking it over medium-low heat until the flour starts to take on just a little color.
Add 1 cup of milk, whisking well to break up any lumps. Then add four ounces of Velveta Cheese, cut into small cubes.
Continue heating over medium-low heat until the cheese melts, and the sauce starts to bubble around the edges. Stir often, constant stirring is even better. When it starts to bubble, turn the heat down to low and let it simmer a minute or two.
Serve over steamed asparagus or any other steamed vegetable, such as cauliflower, broccoli, or Brussels sprouts.
Another good way to cook asparagus is to grill it.
Use a ridged grill pan, spray it with cooking oil, or non-stick spray, and heat well. Marinate your asparagus in a little seasoned oil with some finely chopped onion and garlic. place the asparagus on the grill pan, across the ridges, and grill for a couple of minutes on each side.

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus
INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 bunch fresh asparagus
3 cloves garlic, chopped
DIRECTIONS
Melt the butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and asparagus spears; cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until asparagus is tender. If you like your asparagus well done, reduce heat and cook an additional 10 minutes.
Enjoy!

Ok here's an easy way.. wash it, cut the tuogh ends off it and then cut it into sizes that will fit in to your skillet easily.
Melt some butter, a few tablespoons, and saute it on a very low heat until tender.
May add a bit of garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice to it if you prefer.
It comes out tender, buttery and not mushy like some boiled asparagus. And of course full of calories for the health nut

I bought a steamer for my microwave. It is a plastic dish with a base, a middle rack, and a clear cover. It cost about $15. I make all my vegetables in it including asparagus. It probably takes less than 5 minutes.
You can also stir fry in a little oil.

Just drizzle the raw asparagus with a little olive, salt and pepper and roast in a hot oven. I like it to still be a little crisp so it doesn't get mushy or stringy like it sometimes does when you boil it. You can also pan fry it in a small amount of olive oil and butter, season with salt and pepper. When it's beginning to brown a little, I add a dash of lemon juice.
