Recently my Sony Digital 8 camcorder crashed and im in the middle of making a video. I need a way to upload the video i have already recorded with my Digital 8 camcorder. The only thing i can think of is buying a camera, uploading the video, and returning the camera back to the store. I cant find any Digital 8 camcorders so I may have to use a Hi8 camcorder. Will this work??

no, Hi8 is strictly analog and it would not be able to interpret the digital recording on the Digital 8 tape. Going the other way, some of the Digital 8 devices were made so they could play Video 8 and Hi 8 tapes. the actual tape cassettes are the same.

In most cases Digital8 cameras can pass through analog Hi8 tapes over FireWire, effectively converting them to digital on the fly. I'd recommend downloading the manual for that particular camera from Sony and verifying it supports this before buying the camcorder.
