the Earth is only a few thousand years old, the story of Noah's Ark is 100% true. Dinosaurs existed at the same time as people. All animals were vegetarians until eve ate the apple.
Wow! Are there really people who buy this? I don't care if the theory of evolution is still a work in progress, this other stuff is a fairy tale and it's hard for a rational mind to believe that people can buy into it.
I know people of faith who know that these stories are only parables. They tell me their fundamentalist friends believe they will fry in hell if they don't accept the whole story, warts and all.
I welcome comments from believers of either category. And unbelievers such as myself.
I wonder how many people will tell me I'm damned for not buying the package...

Thanks for the answers so far. Christians among those that answered, see if you can respond to this: Jesus chased the Pharisees out of the temple. The Pharisees were those that insisted on a literal interpretation of the Bible (the old Testament). But modern Fundy Christians take it literally. Isn't this then against the teachings of Christ, and how can you justify it?

I've been to real musems and have seen real evidence regarding evolution
Let them have their fairy tales
You can't argue with people who write stuff like this -
"The Holy Spirit has empowered me to know for a fact that all of that stuff is true"

Well i am kind of on the fence here, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what i believe, i believe in the big bang as people put it, we evolved, i dont buy in to the whole god created the world in seven days story, however i do find mans progress amazing sometimes, when you think of the technology we have today, a few hundred years ago you would have been burnt at the stake if you had shown people then something like a mobile phone, and its these new discoveries that make me wonder, do we just happen across such things through experiments, or are we pushed in the right direction, i do not know if i believe in God, i would like to think we went somewhere after we die.
For me the bible is something that even if parts of it came from God, today that vast majority of it came from man, if we are all equal and we are all Gods children, why is the bible so sexist?, and just happens to tie in with how woman were treated by men in those times, coincidence? i think not.

Not gullible. Just believe what I believe to be the truth.
the Earth is only a few thousand years old, the story of Noah's Ark is 100% true. Dinosaurs existed at the same time as people. All animals were vegetarians until eve ate the apple.
These are all truths. The bible says so!

im not an evolutionist, why would i want to believe i used to throw sh*t and eat throw up??!! im a happy lil agnostic boy, and i agree with ya there, and them christians, ive read alot of that bible, ppl back then lived from 600 to 900 yrs, every book has a list of hundreds of ppl begotting so and so. add all those names up to like several hundred and multiply it by 750, u'll get more than a few thousand years, i dont know how old the world is, but i do know it wont live half as long as it has lived to today......but as the noah crap, i believe there was a great flood, not exactly like the bible one, but theres several religions from all over the world about a great flood, how is it a coincidence that so many religions have documents of the same flood?

There are a myriad number of phenomena (not just religion) that would provoke a rational, intelligent person to ask this question.
The unequivocal answer is, "Yes, and then some." People are idiots. Most don't realize how low the lowest common denominator really is because, well, they're stupid. I'll put it like this: if you were to walk down the street and punch 100 people in the face at random, you can bet that 99 of them were idiots.

What amazes me and which I don't fully understand, is the thought process for one to take the Biblical version literally. So, too, my question is WHY does certain Christians take it literally? Believing in God is not an answer. Would these same 'Christian Literalist' back stoning as a penalty for adultery in this age?
I'm a Theist Evolutionist--believing in God but not the Biblical creation. Instead we find no conflict between the Bible and evolution: God uses evolution as an ongoing tool to create creation.

I think its sad how people have made the Bible the center of the religion instead of the lifestyle like Jesus intended. Does it matter when the earth was "born"? Does evolution REALLY matter? Does it change that Jesus died for them and thier sins? Not really. I wish they pick something more important to fight against. Like poverty or something.

So u dont believe in God? He is the only reason why u are alive. u should believe more in him or you will be going straight into the fires where satan lives. your a real loser if you believe in evolution. you are going to be damned. look outside and wonder, "how was all this made?" well god made it and her sent his only son. Try going to church! maybe youll believe a little bit more. God loves all the dis-believers, even though they are complete jerks and dont appreaciate him enough. People have seen him and felt his presence. Grow up.

Let them believe it. Or, provide a better option. But at this point, there are some who cannot or will not accept your version of the origin of anything.
PS: Only God has the power to damn--man cannot tell you anything.
