Is everything in the outside (physical) world an allegorical symbolic reflection of the inner world, which portrays elements of an individual's own consciousness?

Please tell me --in your own words-- why you believe this to be true, or not. Thank You!

Peace & Love!

The physical universe is wholly a creation of both individual perception and collective consciousness. The paradox is resolved when it's realized that each individual mind is rooted in the same Consciousness, and so the 'material' from which we all draw to form our own universe is the same.

The end result is that each of us creates a universe that is very much the same, but reflects our own unique perspective. This makes it possible for us to interact with each other while creating our own experience entirely.

That's called the "doctrine of signatures". For instance, there is a homoeopathic remedy called Sepia. It is made from the ink of the cuttle fish, and the cuttle fish is shaped like a womb... so by the doctrine of signatures, Sepia is a very good remedy for women's (esp hormonal) complaints.

It's a doctrine often used by therapists in the middle ages. I'm not sure if it always applies, though.

I believe symbols in the outside would can take on an allegorical meaning when a person is moved upon by the Spirit... I mean, the mind will see the spiritual symbology in a physical object when the time is right for the person to learn something. God will use whatever tools he can to inspire and teach.

I'm not sure, though, that every physical thing always has an allegorical spiritual meaning.

If you changed it to "Is everything in the physical world perceived as an allegorical symbolic reflection of the inner world. . ." I might agree with that. Symbols only exist in our mind, but we all do it; if we didn't, there would be no writing. I also don't know if I'd say everything; it'd be so mundane to think that the chair I'm sitting on is a symbol for something.

I had to read your question at least five times before I could get a glimpse of its meaning......and just when I thought I had it....it reflected off my mind. Allegorical means symbolic so what you said was, "symbolic symbolic reflection"... I I don't don't get get that that either either. Do you mean to say that the soul is the consciousness and it projects the world that we see? If that is what you meant then I would answer no. Hey, I tried !!!! Peace

Yes it's true, and that fact doesn't take away from the validity of this world. Have you ever noticed the correlation between your thoughts and the physical world? For years I collected old cliches and phrases that used the human body as a symbol for the human psyche, for instance, 'I find that hard to swallow' or 'he's a pain in my a**' or 'she broke my heart', 'he hasn't got a leg to stand on', the list is endless. I started noticing that our situations, if viewed as an expression or figure of speech like the ones mentioned, would reveal the inner situation, thought or emotion behind the physical situation. I'm simplifying this for the sake of discussion. With practice you can learn to read your own physical reality as you might read your own Tarot cards.
We are literally creating our lives day to day. We use matter as a kind of living clay, and we use time to add a dimension of duration to objects and actions. An artist's work always reveals the inner life of the artist.

No. I believe it not to be true because I believe all things were created for man (woman) to enjoy and that if all physical things are elements of ones own consciousness then all things would be seen differently. Like some people would see a green tree and others might see a blue tree...

I think that sometimes what goes on inside us can be reflected in the outer world. Let's take Bush for example. He has a conflit that is within him and he is reflecting it on the world stage because he is in a position of power. He wants to get out of his father's image by "fixing" a war the his father left alone. He feels the end is near so he causes in event to cause the second coming of Christ.

Yes,
But, very difficult to put it in words, whether own words or borrowed ones, simply because, the words we have for use are presently 'designed' to just communicate about the physical world !
Quite possible to experience it , if a person is willing to deepen his perception way beyond the sensory levels, using the self-awareness sharp enough.

I don't believe in such a dualistic mindset, since we're all an integral part of everything around us, logically. To me there is no "mind/consciousness" vs. "physical world"... it's all integral and empty of inherent existence (i.e. arises due to causes and conditions, etc., like I'm always yapping about). I'd say it's more "illusory" than "allegorical".

Every religion is full of symbols. Its a way of communicating and focusing on the end goal, bringing together community. You recognize a Christian Church because of the cross, you recognize a Pagan by the pentacle or triple moon, you recognize the star of David. Its a reflection of your faith, your inner sanctum in yourself. So yes I agree with that statement.
