in thinking "whats the point of this game" there is no skill in guessing what amount of money is in a sealed box, so why do they congratulate each other when they open a box with only a small amount of cash in it? and does holding hands and chanting "blue, blue, blue" really work.

It is strangely addictive. I do however get annoyed with all that crap about positivity, chanting, feelings, premonitions, systems, overdue wins, etc etc etc.
There are two aspects to the game:
1) The choosing of the boxes is down to pure luck.
2) The decision of what offer to accept is down to the bravery and nerves and gambling skill of the contestant.
Assuming the banker does not know where the big amounts are then it is a game of pure chance.
One thing which does puzzle me... They always ask the contestants if they "chose the box themselves at random". If that was the case, then they can't ALL have done that, as presumably it would get to the point where there was only one box left for the final person to choose from... ? What if the 22nd person said they didn't want that box...??

Your right 9/10 times the chanting of blue never works and it just annoys me. If you watch when they begin to chant blue it usually ends up being the biggest amount on the board. However the concept of the game is alright. Once I begin to watch the show I can't turn it off its so addictive. Although Noel Edmonds is getting a little annoying!

The arbitrary nature of success on the game, combined with the foolish display of superstition and hope, is exactly what makes the show entertaining. No one really puts forth that there is any skill involved, but what difference does it make? It is all about emotional people getting up there and wishing with all their might that they will just happen to get lucky. The luck is what makes it exciting. In the end, there is an element of luck involved with ALL games. Even in Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit, there is an element of luck involved depending on what questions you get or how smart the guy next to you is, regardless of how skilled you are. If you want skill, watch sports. Game shows are a totally different monster.

I think that (to them) its just a relief that they have not wrecked someone elses game.
Your right, there is very little skill in it, it is a game of chance.
As for the 'Blue, Blue, Blue', well belief in luck and superstition takes over, probably as there is no skill, they have to rely on something else. Look at footballers & actors, some of them do very long complexed rituals before doing their job.
The ONLY way to play that game is RANDOM - take a small cloth bag 22 numbered ping - pong balls and pull them out one by one. (Unless of course you are Phycic Sarah !!!!!)

It just goes to show that people will watch anything. That show was fine the first time i watched it but now I can't stand it. It really should be a ten minute show.

You are right. It is really just an extension of all those 'phone in with the answer to this multi choice "easy" question' and win £10K.
It shows what this country is coming to.
