Yes...I have yet to find an atheist that didn't at least accept the basic idea. And you can find atheists with just about every other belief there is.

oh seriously, evolution is rediculous. we dont believe in evolution because it has been proven wrong many times over. and how do you explain that we just got here because some bit of dust reacted with another bit of dust and we just boom. appeared. there are not MASSIVE amounts of evidence for evolution. carbon-14 dating is not accurate because some person tested a seal that had died no more than a month before they tested it and the test said that it was like 3000 years old. how do you explain the fact that there has been no real "evolution" of species for as long as we have been observing them, which is a while and you said it yourself, evolution is just a theory. You can believe it if you want, but i can look out at the window at the world and think "How did that magnificent world just come to be because of an explosion" i am sorry but go look in the mirror and look at yourself. how did your face just "evolve" from a bit of dust. the sun would have burned out way before now if what you believe is true. the bible never says anything about evolution. it just says what happened. that a soverign god created a beautiful world in 7 days.

Good question.
Further complicating the issue is that some religious people, like myself, don't think that the Bible contradicts evolution at all. Much of the Bible is symbolic, so who is to say that the six days of creation were not actually equivalent to 4.5 billion years? As Galileo and Newton both pointed out, the Bible was not designed as a science textbook. It is a guide to spiritual growth. Principles of geology and astronomy simply do not apply. Using the Bible to disprove evolution is like trying to use the Constitution to explain atomic theory. They are totally unrelated to one another. I move that both, the Bible AND creation, are accurate in their own way.
So, although I believe in the Bible, I have no idea what kind of logic that creationists have for not believing in the theory of evolution. There are some molecular biologists that suggest that too many examples of mutations of genes negates the theory of selective evolutionary process, but few scientists agree with them. Considering that very, very few of us are experts in evolutionary science, geology, molecular biology, advanced astronomy, or nuclear physics... I have to say that the logical thing is to place your bet with the majority of scientists until evidence suggests otherwise.

The mathamaticl ods of evelution being anywhere near provable is so beond astronomicl it blows past inpossible and insane so quick your eye wont even have time to twinkle.
Thats for one.
For another, check up on some of the notes darwin made conserning evelution and the human eye.
Also let me float a few "theroys" back at you.
The uncaused cause.
For something to exist there MUST be something that has ALLWAYS existed.
for the big bang. No explosion causes order. None.
Evolution says we evolved up. so that means we gradualy grew smarter as a species over time. Thats inpossible as nothing can create something smarter then itself. a one celled orginism cant understand to grow into anything bigger then itself, let alone to learn to make a gill or lungs.
Another is evelution says that animals came before plants. Another inpossiblity as there was no ozone on the planet at the time there would be nothing able to survive.
come on....Im not even tryin here and im almost laughing at the theroy people throw there lives into beliveing.
You know, you guys have more blind faith then any christian Ive seen ever in my life. I wish there where christians with faith like you guys.

The main problem Me, myself and I with Evolution is that so much about Evolution is based on Scientific assumptions, theories and questionable measurement tools. Much of Science today is filled with holes. Science after several centuries of research are now saying that Pluto is not a planet and never has been. Wow! so much for my Grandmother and Mother who died believing otherwise. It takes far more faith to accept theories over the facts of God's words and biblical Archealogical discoveries that validate the Scriptures.

Its not just creationsists who don't believe in the theory of evolution. Its kind of like the theory of global warming now, many scientist think its happening but there are also alot of scientist that think its just a normal cycle. Some people still don't know what happened but that doesn't make them evil just because they don't agree with a theory. Gravity is a law, not a theory and that is the reason everyone believes in gravity, there is proof.

For there to be so much "evidence" against evolution and the validity of carbon-dating and another methods that science is currently using, I don't hear anyone else speaking out against it. We don't hear any educated, non-creationists standing up and saying, "You know, this doesn't make sense. Maybe we should start looking into a completely new theory of where humans came from." The only arguments against it (the theory as a whole, not specific parts) are from a religious standpoint.

Your question is logically invalid simply by the way you phrase it. You make way too many unproven assumptions and logical fallacies 1) If a theory is widely accepted, it must be true. (appeal to popularity) 2) You're assuming that ALL of those controversial theories are correct (begging the question, unproven assumption) 3) You assert that because we agree with some theories, we must agree with every theory. And if we don't, you imply that we commit some kind of error.

It's more than just "the Bible says". If we evolved, then we're basically "glorified monkeys", and they're going to have to answer at what point God came along and gave US a soul, but not animals.
Plus, if there was no Adam and Eve and no original sin, then the whole "Jesus had to die on the cross" thing breaks down. The whole myth needs every last piece to stay (barely) standing.

If the bible said the sky was made of cream cheese and that people were actually made of moon pies, Christians would have no choice but to believe it.
If it is written in their book, it is a fact to them. They are not allowed, or are intellectually unable to question it. It is quite pathetic.

The Bible doesn't disagree with the theory of evolution. I just don't find that particular interpretation of the facts credible.
