I've lowered the matress as far as it will go but she's still getting out. Is there a way to prevent this!? We don't want to buy a toddler bed because she's still to young to be able to get up and go around by herself, and she's temporarily sharing a room with her cousin, who's going through the terrible twos.
Any help.would be appreciated.

There's a canopy that you can buy that goes over the crib. It's a strong mesh that covers the top, but still allows air to circulate. Although, we have never needed one, my friends have a little one that did. It retails for about $80 at Babies R Us.

I think you really need to give some more thought to the toddler bed. It's more unsafe to let your daughter climb out of the crib than it is to put her in a toddler bed and take a chance of her getting up at night. You can always get a gate for her bedroom door, so that she still has to stay in her room at night.

Our daughter (same age as yours) didn't climb out of her crib, but we put out the toddler bed anyway. She LOVED it. The minute she saw it, she jumped on it, climbed up and down, and was laughing the whole time. We gate the hallway so she can't go anywhere if she gets up, but she went to sleep in that toddler bed like a pro.

You never know. Your daughter might love the toddler bed esp if she's hankering to get out.

Toddler Bed time. My daughters both climbed out of their cribs by 16 months. I had them out and into a toddler bed by 18 months. It's safer because they don't have as far to fall.

You should just switch to the toddler bed. my daughter never climbed out of the crib but to prevent things from happening to our daughter my husband and I bought a few of those safety gates and blocked off everything so that she could only get to our room. It worked and after a couple of months we took down the gates because she was potty trained and would get up at night to use the bathroom.

Sounds like she is already getting up & going around by herself. You don't want to wait until she really gets hurt climbing out of her crib so its time for a toddler bed.

Put the mattress on the floor until she is able to climb in and out of a toddler bed herself...get a gate for her room.

they sell canopy's that go over the crib....check out Craig's list first as you will only be using it a little while....It really looks just like a tent on top and a lot are more webbing material and do not resemble a cage at all.......It worked for me and I had a 1 year old climbing out of his...we had to go to a twin bed by 1.7, we just put sides on the bed....My friend also did the same putting her 1 year old on a mattress and then put the mattress on the floor....minimum falling...but was easier for him to get out...If I were you I would try the tent/canopy on the crib.

Both my kids managed that feat and I gave up and put the crib mattress on the floor. I put the plastic knob covers that prevent little ones from escaping their rooms on the doors and triple-checked the room for baby-broofing. My boys shared a room but my older boy is very nice so I don't know how your niece is. There are tents etc for cribs, but they creep me out (not for any particular reason though). Good luck.

If a toddler bed is totally out of the question, they have those tent thingies that you put over the top of the crib especially for that.

Normal, it is now time for a toddler bed. My 18 month old did that at a year but thankfully, only a week to get use to the toddler bed. good luck
